Instructional Designer

The Instructional Designer collaborates with Workiva's People & Culture team to create and sustain innovative and high-quality learning experiences that empower employees with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. In this role, you will own the entire content development lifecycle- from intake to archiving- and design engaging training materials across multiple formats, such as instructor-led courses, virtual sessions, web-based modules and other learning solutions. The Instructional Designer will partner with stakeholders to test, refine, and evaluate the effectiveness of the learning content.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and implement learning solutions to create meaningful employee growth experiences

  • Own full life-cycle of learning content design and creation, including: conducting needs analysis, creating learning objectives, setting success metrics, designing course content, managing stakeholders, developing content to meet stakeholder needs, and partnering across the team to regularly evaluate program health to ensure participants are meeting learning objectives

  • Build development experiences with a global perspective, ensuring scalability and inclusivity

  • Identify opportunities for innovative and creative approaches to learning and development

  • Collaborate with project teams to improve efficiency and effectiveness of learning content, consistently pushing the boundary on how we approach learning, and leveraging new methodologies or modalities to ensure impactful learning experiences

What You'll Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, multi-media, graphic design, digital marketing, fine arts, or related discipline

  • 4+ years of relevant, practical experience in instructional design or closely related area of learning and development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working across global teams in a high-growth tech or SaaS environment

  • Experience designing learning solutions for professional audiences to address skill gaps

  • Aptitude for learning and using technology for both learning design and data analysis

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing a multitude of learning modalities, including but not limited to, instructor led sessions, eLearning creation, video scripting and editing, job aids, etc.

  • Proficiency with Articulate 360 or Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, and similar content creation tools

  • Understanding and application of current and emerging instructional design methods, adult learning theories, learning outcome assessment, project management strategies, game-based learning, and competency-based education

  • Excellent analytical, project management, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to interpret data, provide actionable insights, and lead multiple projects in a matrixed, global organization

  • Passion, creativity and a positive outlook with a commitment to excellence and highstandards

Travel Requirements & Working Conditions

  • 10% travel required for internal meetings

  • Reliable internet access for any period working remotely and not in a Workiva office

How You'll Be Rewarded

Salary range in the US: $74,000.00 - $118,000.00

A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire

401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package
