We are looking for aSupervisor - Mine Operationsto join the Rio Tinto Minerals Boron Operations Mine Team to maximize the potential of our mining equipment, resources, and the safety of our teams. Our staff and supervision work a 12-hr. schedule, Sunday through Tuesday or Thursday through Saturday and every other Wednesday. This is a fixed schedule for dayshift or nightshift and requires flexibility to work all shifts.

Reporting to theMine & Crusher Operation Superintendentand working in a collaborative community, you will be:

  • Ensuring a high level of leadership in safety standards and procedures
  • Executing mine production plans in a safe and cost-effective manner to ensure targeted quantities are consistently delivered
  • Responsible for the allocation of operational resources and directing work of outside consultants and contractors
  • Responsible for ongoing training, safety compliance and departmental scheduling and productivity
  • Communicating with multiple stakeholder groups working in and around the mine facility
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of the mine and lowering of costs by identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation

What you'll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a related role with increasing responsibility
  • Ability to lead and prior experience leading medium to large teams
  • Strong problem solving and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • 3 years of engineering experience
  • Prior experience in mining operations and/or exposure to mine planning systems
  • Intermediate computer competency (Excel, Word, SAP, etc.)
