Base Compensation: $20/hour

Sterilization and Disinfection Control division manufactures and sells biological and chemical indicators that assess the effectiveness of sterilization and disinfection processes for pharmaceutical, healthcare, and dental industries.

Job Summary:

The Research & Development Intern that supports our SDC business has responsibility for initiating and completing research and development testing and protocols related to new product development, product feature enhancements and product modifications that advance and enhance the product portfolio of the division. All work must be performed following GLP, industry standards and protocols.

Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Own and drive R&D project(s) for either continuous improvement within the Mesa manufacturing facility or development of new products.
  • Collaborate and work efficiently with groups including but not limited to R&D, quality, production, external vendors or customers, etc.
  • Learn and follow Lean Philosophy 5S behaviors in creating a continuously improving, clean, well-organized and self-maintaining work environment.
  • Comply with company ethics, code of conduct, policies, and best practices, with a commitment to safety in the workplace, valuing of diversity, and promotion of a harassment-free environment.
  • Ability to follow testing protocols and design SOPs which may include editing and creation of experimental testing protocols when necessary.
  • Organize and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Exhibit excellent documentation practices.
  • Analyze data and communicate technical information to internal teams in the form of oral and written correspondence, presentations, and reports.
  • Comply with all safety and regulatory standards.
  • Application of the Mesa Labs Quality Policy and actively monitor quality of outcomes in the performance of all assigned tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.


Education/Experience:



  • Student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in biology, microbiology, biological engineering, chemical engineering or a related field.
  • Student must be in good academic standing at their university, with a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
  • Student must be a quick learner who is able to work as part of a team, but is also driven and capable of working independently.
  • Any experience with GMP, sterilization, endospores, is nice to have, but not necessary.
