The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Job Description

Job Profile Summary

The Business Analyst Intern works closely with the Ed Tech Business Operations team to support various projects and initiatives aimed at improving our educational programs and operations. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data analysis, project management, and strategic planning within a non-profit education setting.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • The Business Analyst demonstrates competencies to achieve specific individual and functional objectives that require application of subject matter knowledge.

  • The Business Analyst plans, and schedule are broadly pre-defined and require development of specific work plans and schedules to achieve objectives.

  • The Business Analyst will be required to contribute to the development of functional and organizational content, practices, and objectives to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.

  • The Business Analyst's scope of work typically requires cross-functional coordination and/or collaboration within and occasionally outside the organizational function.

  • The Business Analyst is innovative and is always looking to new technologies to meet the needs of today.

  • The Business Analyst may format and deliver accurate data, using prescribed programs/reports or programs/reports they develop, which will enable leadership to make excellent business.

  • The Business Analyst must demonstrate excellent attention to detail, data cleansing, and data accuracy and may support others on the team as a quality check to ensure all data is accurate.

  • The Business Analyst must demonstrate superior accuracy in reporting, planning, and communication; adaptability and flexibility as situations change frequently; and reliability in accomplishing tasks on time.

  • The Business Analyst must plan, organize, monitor, and manage business intelligence projects through completion and fluidly manage multiple tasks and responsibilities in a high-pressure environment.

  • The Business Analyst collaborates primarily within the department. Occasionally, the Business Analyst will collaborate with teams outside of the department to ensure the various needs are met.

  • The Business Analyst elicits requirements and specifications through use of interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, and task and workflow analysis.

  • The Business Analyst communicates and collaborates with internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the appropriate artifacts as needed.

  • The Business Analyst may also work to develop creative solutions to solve issues or drive continuous improvement.

  • The Business Analyst contributes directly toward achieving department and team objectives to be accurate, fair, helpful, and quick, while contributing to an environment that is a great place to work.

  • The Business Analyst may collaborate with their supervisor/manager to determine appropriate actions for atypical situations or development beyond the original scope of their responsibilities, but often takes initiative and logically works through these situations independently.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 2016 or Office 365.

  • Proficient specifically in Microsoft Excel or PowerBi.

  • Ability to learn new applications and/or platforms as needed.

Position & Application Details

Part-time Regular Positions (classified as regular and working less than 30 standard weekly hours): This is a part-time, regular position (classified for less than 30 SWH) that is eligible for vision and mental healthcare; flexible spending account; voluntary life insurance; accident, critical illness and hospital indemnity supplemental coverages; legal and identity theft coverage; retirement savings plan; wellbeing program; discounted WGU tuition; and prorated paid holidays and accrued sick time.
