Intern Position Summary

The Enterprise Risk Management Intern will work with the newly formed Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team. The ERM was formed to empower the organization with a proactive approach to managing risks and enhancing resilience. The ERM team works across business units to identify, assess, and manage risks while fostering a culture of risk awareness and accountability.

As an ERM intern, you will play a critical role in advancing the development of the ERM program. You will gain valuable experience in building an ERM framework, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to organizational success through strategic risk management.

Essential Functions

Business Continuity Plan (BCP) Development:



  • Develop a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) template based on industry best practices with guidance from the ERM team.
  • Analyze existing internal materials and incorporate relevant content into the BCP.
  • Conduct interviews with key business units to identify critical functions, dependencies, and continuity strategies.
  • Compile findings into a comprehensive draft BCP report for internal review.
  • Finalize and present the BCP draft to CSBS leadership.


ERM Support Tasks:



  • Support the ERM team with development of risk registers.
  • Support the development of ERM reports, presentations, and dashboards.
  • Research emerging risks and industry trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and synthesize information on risk-related activities.
  • Assist in maintaining and enhancing the ERM intranet site, ensuring it is updated with relevant resources and tools.
  • Participate in ERM-related meetings, prepare meeting materials, take notes, and track follow-up actions.
  • Draft and edit policy documents, guidelines, and templates to support the organization's risk management framework.


Primary Project (60%): Developing a comprehensive Business Continuity Plan (BCP).

Supporting Role (40%): Assisting with ERM program development tasks such as risk registers, an intranet site, and dashboards.

Education and Experience



  • Currently pursuing a degree in business, management, public administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in project management or writing business analysis.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Knowledge of organizational management, business analysis, or risk management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • A proactive attitude toward teamwork and learning.



Requirements



  • Due to the nature of CSBS's business in support of state financial services supervision, all CSBS employees have the potential of interacting with confidential information related to the supervision of financial services companies ("Confidential Supervisory Information"). As a result, in addition to general business conflicts of interest, all CSBS employees are expected to disclose conflicts of interest in financial services companies on at least an annual basis and to proactively avoid such conflicts.
  • Protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of CSBS information and information systems in accordance with CSBS policies and procedures.
