Description

Columbia University invites applications for an Associate Research Scientist position in the Columbia Astrophysics Laboratory (CAL), where the successful candidate will join the group of Professor Marcel Agueros. The object of this project is to examine archival and new X-ray observations made with the XMM-Newton observatory of two open clusters so as to measure coronal activity in stars in these two clusters, and to combine these measurements with rotation period catalogs to examine the dependence of this activity on rotation. The appointment will be initially for one year with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon the availability of funds and satisfactory performance. Questions regarding this position can be addressed to Professor Agueros at m.agueros@columbia.edu
