Job Summary

Our Talent Acquisition team has an exciting new role!! The Human Resources Specialist role acts as the lead specialist for all part-time, adjunct, federal work study (FWS), person of interest (POI) and contingent worker (CWR) hiring. This position handles all HR inquiries, provides specialized administrative support, I-9 and new hire paperwork processing. The incumbent will provide comprehensive HR support for all staff and faculty, acting as the HR liaison for the department.

Essential Functions

60% - Handles and completes all part-time, adjunct, federal work study (FWS), person of interest (POI) and contingent worker (CWR) hiring for the college. Accurately reviews hiring requests, ensures proper approvals are in place, verifies and enters new employee and rehire data into HCM and SIS. Ensures paperwork for all new hires is completed; processes and inputs I-9's; ensures digital files are compiled and completed with accuracy for all part-time and adjunct hiring; creates and maintains the department digital part-time personnel files in accordance with established procedures, scans documents and converts paper files into digital files saved in the HR drive, prepares packets for new hire paperwork as well as for new employee orientations, assists college-wide department admins with basic HR information; maintains the PT Hiring automated system and completes all part-time hiring; acts as the lead liaison for the supervisors in regards to completing the part-time hire requests (digitally and through hard copy when needed); assists with the onboarding process; works directly with the curriculum and scheduling team when assistance is needed; provides general information and customer service support to college staff, faculty, students and the general public regarding HR matters, completes new hire reports for the District office and performs audits

30% - Provides detailed HR customer support for all staff, faculty and student workers as well as the general public providing support and troubleshooting for concerns and issues through chat, email, phone and in person functionalities, assists new hires and rehires with access issues, working directly with the employee and IT to correct any issues, assists with updated tax forms and responds to procedural questions

10% - Assists with full-time recruitment initial screenings when needed; assists with the scheduling of interviews for full-time recruitments when needed and participates in any onboarding activities; completes purchasing requests for the Human Resources department when needed; performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and one year of human resources support experience related to talent acquisition and recruiting.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Associate's degree or higher is preferred

B. Experience with human resources related tasks such as new hire paperwork, data entry, and maintaining employee records within established procedures

C. Administrative/clerical experience such as handling phone and in person inquiries, resolving issues, and maintaining professional interactions with internal and external stakeholders preferably in Human Resources

D. Experience with using an online human resources management system (HRMS)

E. Experience serving diverse populations

  • May be required to travel or be assigned to all GateWay locations
  • May require some evenings or weekends
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs
