SCOPE OF LEADERSHIP ROLE

Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Management for the Clutch & Brake Division, part of the Industrial Powertrain Solutions Segment, the Director of Product Management is a vital and critical role in determining the overall health of the business. A successful Director of Product management plans, organizes, and manages assigned product lines throughout product life cycles, including new product development, to optimize profitability while meeting the changing marketing, financial, and business growth objectives.

The Clutch & Brake Division's Electromagnetic product line represents approximately $300M in revenue and includes the Warner Electric and Stearns brands. The Electromagnetic product line is critical to the Clutch & Brake Division's strategic initiative on electrification and serves markets that include intralogistics, mobile power, medical & motion control, marine, and outdoor power.

This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams including product development, sales, marketing, and operations. The ideal candidate is a team player who operates with a global view, can exercise leadership without managerial authority, and is able thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This position is also responsible for driving activities and decisions focused on maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction and growing market share.

The Director of Product Management is a new role within the Clutch & Brake Division and will be responsible for managing an established team that possesses the ability to operate globally, without limitation to existing geographies, manufacturing sites, markets, and brands. As a team, the group will be responsible for the implementation and development of critical Regal Rexnord tools and frameworks that include 80/20 and Product Line Simplification (PLS).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the entire life cycle of all product lines within the business from strategic planning, product definition, tactical launch activities and end of life.

  • Operate as the internal voice of our customers across development teams, (primarily Engineering, Sales and Marketing) through an understanding of market requirements, product definition, training and launch activities.

  • Develop and implement a cohesive short- and long-term product line roadmaps.

  • Implement a robust product line simplification process that delivers cost savings.

  • Coordinate and lead the on-going Innovation/VOC exercises. Combining this information with a business case analysis to define business requirements and the products value proposition.

  • Define pricing and sales strategy/policies for all products within the business and drives these through the division.

  • Maintain a high level of expertise in the competitive landscape including competitive product and pricing strategy.

  • Collaborate with other segment and division Product Managers to develop effective divisional product line development opportunities.

  • Analyze potential partner relationships that can either enhance current offerings or fill necessary gaps in offerings.

  • Perform 80/20 analysis on products, customers and markets to identify opportunities for focus and growth.

  • Leverage 80/20 and continuous improvement in all aspects of product management, decision making and actively participate in on-going projects team that maximize overall organizational effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Assist Customer Service and Sales teams with technical and customer support.

  • Interface with internal teams including R&D, engineering, sales, marketing and support teams to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are achieved.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, the candidate must hold a unique combination of skills and abilities. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with in-depth industry experience, exceptional project management skills, and a true passion to win.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in related Engineering field (MBA preferred but not required)

  • 5+ years of commercial experience in marketing, product management and/or sales

  • Proven people leadership competencies are required; direct people management experience is strongly desired

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Ability to lead through influence without direct supervisory authority

  • Drives execution and is results and action oriented

  • Significant product management skills - manage multiple projects at one time while also meeting require deadlines. Delegate, set objectives and measure progress

  • Capable of both strategic thinking and tactical execution

  • Ability to work in a non-structured environment while maintaining personal accountability for achieving defined objectives

  • Ability to communicate effectively with existing and prospective customers utilizing appropriate industry terms

  • Comfortable in making difficult decisions

  • Strong ability to network effectively internally and externally

Desired

  • Hands-on experience with the 80/20 process and product line simplification

  • Global experience

  • Skills and experience around financial (and other metrics) analysis, associated with all aspects of a product

  • Relevant industry experience

Travel: Global Travel (up to 50%) required

Expected Salary: $160,000- $188,000 annually.

Please note that compensation is based on a variety of factors when extending offer, including but not limited to, the role, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, qualifications, and business considerations.
