Position Summary

AVNA is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer that will be directly engaged and responsible for manufacturing process support for multiple products within structured product lines. As a key role in our sustaining group, you will provide support to production operations for the achievement of our quality goals & objectives such as OTD, Scrap & Efficiency. You will work closely with several disciplines of the company including NPD, Quality Assurance, Facilities and Supply Chain group.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing our manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production and high-quality products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide technical expertise, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence. You'll take ownership and drive results, performing challenging and non routine manufacturing engineering work requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. You will provide daily support to the production floor to ensure continuous production of quality product.

This is a regular, full-time job opportunity based in our Berlin, CT facility but servicing both our Berlin and New Britain, CT locations.


Responsibilities/Duties

  • Along with senior engineering staff, validate and implement manufacturing strategies and processes to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, quality engineers, and production personnel to ensure smooth production operations and timely delivery of products. Resolve production issues as they occur.
  • Assist with root cause analyses in support of corrective actions to resolve production issues and minimize downtime. Assist with any engineering tests/experiments in support of this process. Compile results.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, drawings, 3D CAD models and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Participate in process improvement projects, utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to identify and eliminate waste, improve productivity, and enhance product quality.


Skills

Required:



  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, assembly, and inspection.
  • Knowledge of value-add manufacturing technologies - secondary presses, welding, automation equipment, vision systems, grinders, etc.
  • Excellent analytical, technical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with continuous improvement projects and cost reductions.
  • Outstanding communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical, technical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with 3D CAD (Solidworks or Autodesk Inventor).
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and manufacturing resource planning (Plex ERP a plus).



Preferred:



  • Experience in a highly regulated industry, such as aerospace or medical devices.
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA), functional dimensioning, and tolerance analysis.
  • Project management skills/experience.
  • Understanding of ANSI Y 14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Working knowledge of ISO13485.


Education/Experience

Bachelor of Science Degree (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or Technology) preferred. Associates or no degree considered with applicable experience.

Minimum of 3 years' experience in a contract metalworking (metal stamping, machining, or automated assembly) environment.

Lean Six Sigma training, certification or experience participating in Lean events.
