We are seeking an entry level Sales Application Engineer to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio.

General Description

The Sales Application Engineer will report to the Regional Vice President (RVP) and provide support to the regional sales team and regional service operations team, to help improve the effectiveness of the sales and service functions and resulting customer satisfaction. The Sales Application Engineer will develop the necessary product and application knowledge, and sales and customer service skills to progress into a sales management role within the Power Technique North America organization.

Roles and Responsibilities:

In support of the regional sales and service operations, the Sales Application Engineer will perform functions including, but not limited to:




  • Develop a working knowledge of Atlas Copco's portable energy products, applications, and market, and participate in employee development programs with the goal of progressing into a sales role within the Atlas Copco organization
  • Assist the regional sales team:

    • Act as a liaison between customers and sales representatives, assisting sales and management with routine and special requests and projects
    • Screen and promptly respond to inquiries from the regional sales team and channel partners pertaining to pricing, parts and capital equipment availability, shipping, and customer service
    • Perform basic specification review and prepare sales proposals in response to general industry and government/municipal requests
    • Update CRM (Contact Relationship Management) system with sales opportunities and provide basic business information analysis for use by the regional management
    • Prepare spare parts and extended warranty proposals to customers upon equipment delivery or based on fleet requirements


  • Assist the regional service team:

    • Develop an understanding of the service requirements for each line of equipment manufactured
    • Assist service manager in preparation of proposals for both cost-added (warranty) and value-added (chargeable) repairs
    • Provide sourcing assistance for service manager and service administrator
    • In absence of service manager, technical service personnel in the coordination and staging of service jobs




  • Travel as necessary within the 25-state North Region to attend customer meetings and assist regional management and sales personnel as a customer liaison for routine and special requests and projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned



Perform duties in accordance with Atlas Copco standards, while always striving to understand the needs and expectations of the customers and colleagues. Take appropriate action to get the job done while maintaining close and effective communication with all internal and external customers.

What we expect of you?

Experience:




  • This is an entry level position. Recent college graduates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
  • Four-year college degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Business, or Technical Field
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Motivated, self-directed attitude
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license



Education:




  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or related.
  • Industrial Distribution graduates strongly encouraged to apply.



Supervisory Responsibilities:




  • This position has no supervisory responsibility.
