Design Engineer I

To assist in the development of standard products including layouts, drawings and diagrams, BOM development and other engineering-related activities. Validation test specification development and manufacturing/production/validation test support. Build prototypes.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare standard product designs. (Drawings, BOM`s, etc.)
• Prepare design review documentation. Rotate through the plant`s different departments.
• Process jobs with little or no modification.
• Prototype designs.
• Computer input.
• Duties require knowledge and compliance to UL`s DAP (Data Acceptance Program.)

Travel:

• Limited as needed

Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* AutoCAD experience.
* 3D CAD modeling experience, Pro/ENGINEER preferred.
* Mechanical analysis experience and a solid mechanical aptitude.
* Good interpersonal and customer relation skills.
* Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
* Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize responsibilities.
* Proficient in using Microsoft Office including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment with personnel from diverse backgrounds.
* Ability to handle large volume of important or urgent issues in a timely manner.
* Self manage a very demanding workload and ability to multi-task.
* Strong judgment, planning, problem solving and decision making skills.
* Ability to deal with time sensitive deadlines.
* Maintain technical expertise in assigned functional areas.
* Interpret industry standards and customer requirements related to functional areas of expertise.
* Perform above duties with attention to safety in both work practices and design.
* Perform above duties with a focus on team work and customer satisfaction.
