Environmental Engineering Intern

Environmental Engineering Internship - Plainville, CT

Intern/Co-Op will have the opportunity to work with an experienced team of environmental scientists, geologists and engineers while participating in field and office activities involving environmental permitting, environmental impact assessments; environmental site assessments; sampling programs; remedial activities; and data interpretation, analysis and reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform engineering calculations to support the design; operation, monitoring and maintenance on remediation and mitigation systems;
• Assist with data review and performance tracking of operation and maintenance activities at several environmental remediation systems;
• Assisting with sampling programs involving soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, indoor air and soil vapor;
• Conducting project-related research (historical data, regulations, etc.);
• Tabulating, analyzing, and interpreting data, and preparing figures;
• Assisting with the preparation of reports, work plans, correspondence;
• Learning and following standard operating procedures while continuing to develop skills;
• Review environmental, health and safety regulations to support the compliance of our clients;
• Assisting with environmental permitting and licensing including research state and federal regulatory requirements;
• May prepare the drawings of designs he or she has originated (typically will not draft the designs of others);
• Performs other related work as apparent or as assigned and performs all such work in a safe manner, consistent with the firm's policies and procedures;
• May assist in preparation of proposal estimates of time and expense required to complete the project;
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Skills Required:

• Junior, Senior, or Graduate student in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering;
• 3.0 GPA or higher;
• 40-hour OSHA Hazwoper training a plus;
• Sound knowledge of environmental engineering fundamentals;
• Excellent communication, writing, and computer skills are mandatory;
• Must be a team player and possess a collaborative attitude;
• Willingness to learn and adapt to change;
• Be self-motivated ;
• Prior internship and/or related engineering experience are a plus.
