THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency is on the lookout for a dedicated and detail-oriented Fiscal Technician who possesses strong communication abilities. This role involves independently executing advanced paraprofessional fiscal administrative tasks that support various initiatives, including the Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP), the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP), and other programs managed by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for scrutinizing documentation to ensure it meets the standards and guidelines set forth by Commonwealth accounting procedures. Your duties will include reviewing, posting, and processing a diverse array of financial records and documents that support the operations of the Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP), the Cybersecurity Grant Program, and the fiscal activities of the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). You will act as the main point of contact for gathering proof of receipt documentation and reconciling purchase order invoices related to these programs, as well as authorizing invoice payments. Additionally, you will function as a liaison among Subrecipients, vendors, and the comptroller, facilitating effective communication and collaboration among all parties involved.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • FREE parking
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon completion of a training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • In the event of an emergency/disaster situation or training exercise, this position may be required to travel, work up to 12-hour shifts, and work outside of the normal work hours, including weekends and overnights.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will receive the minimum starting salary listed on this posting. The starting salary is non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Fiscal Assistant; or
  • Three years of work involving the maintenance of fiscal or financial records, including one year of responsible work which involves the application of accounting or fiscal principles and practices; and graduation from high school; or
  • One year of experience in maintaining and reviewing fiscal records and an Associate degree in accounting or business administration; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
