Information Technology Job Description
CANES Technicians provide technicalassistance repairing and replacing malfunctioning or failed components. Including, but not limitedto: distance support, onboard, corrective repair action, onboard maintenance training, and logistical support. Systems and equipment include, but are not limited to, support for the following systems: Technicians will evaluate, troubleshoot, test, repair, and/or provide technical oversight and guidance tocorrect equipment deficiencies of the CANES and other equipment withinCANES. Provide technical support of software/hardware as required to support CANES systems and laptops/workstations onboard surface ships and aircraft carriers. Provide technicallevel of corrective maintenance, installation and testing of CANES systems.Identify and correct anomalies associated with installation, operation, maintenance, andconnectivity problems.Provide distance support via telephone, e-mail, and chat to deployed and local ships fortechnical and logistic matters associated with CANES (USQ-208) equipment.Perform onboard maintenance training to ship's force personnel during technicalassistance visits to improve ship's force proficiency in operation and maintenance of CANES. This position has been designated as a DoD Information Assurance (IA) workforceposition in Information Assurance Technician Level II (IAT II) and as a condition ofemployment 5 years of hands-on experience in the troubleshooting, assessment and repair of the following systems. Experience shall be current; within the last 3 years.
