Career growth and development Diverse and collaborative working environment Affordable and comprehensive benefits package $5,000 sign-on bonus POSITION SUMMARY: The Johns Hopkins Children's Mental Health Center (CMHC) specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents with behavioral, emotional and psychiatric difficulties. Our patients have the opportunity to participate in individual and/or family-oriented treatment, as well as child/adolescent and parent groups. We offer complete psychiatric and psychosocial evaluations and also assist parents, schools, agencies and other medical specialists in understanding patient needs. The CMHC serves children ages 3-18. This position: Appropriately assesses patients referred for mental health problems such as situational disorder, anxiety disorders, major mental illness and psychotic disorders. Implements and monitors treatment plan. Provides individual, family or group treatment such as psychotherapy, supportive therapy or crisis intervention on a long-term or short-term basis. Consults with family, community and external health agencies to obtain information and to coordinate treatment and to help patients utilize resources of agencies. Maintains patient's charts and records, including evaluation, progress notes, individual treatment plans, medication order sheets, and discharge forms. Reviews monthly productivity reports to monitor the percentage of work time spent providing direct patient care. Time spent providing direct patient care should meet departmental standards. Education: Master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, mental health or a related discipline required. Doctoral degree in a related discipline preferred. Requires knowledge of general policies and procedures as well as knowledge of evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric patients as acquired through educational preparation and 6 months to one year of psychiatric therapy experience in a clinical setting. Skills: Must have a high level of analytical ability necessary to gather and interpret data in relation to patient evaluation and ongoing treatment. Must be able to develop treatment plans and monitor ongoing treatment of patient progress. Must have good interpersonal skills necessary to provide counseling and treatments needed to patients as well as regular contact with patient's physician, social work personnel and other health care and mental health providers. Provides direct patient care at a percentage of work time established by the program. Work Experience: Two to three years of related experience. C. Salary Range: Minimum 29.42 per hour - Maximum 48.59 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
