JOB SUMMARY

IPG Photonics is seeking a results-oriented Sales Manager to lead and develop our team of Sales Representatives for the LightWELD product line. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, developing sales strategies, and overseeing the performance of the direct sales team dedicated to LightWELD, our innovative hand-held laser welder that is transforming traditional welding methods. The Sales Manager will play a critical role in setting direction, coaching team members, and ensuring that sales targets are met or exceeded.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Sales Representatives, setting clear expectations and providing ongoing support to help them achieve individual and team sales targets.
  • Sales Strategy Development: Collaborate with senior management to define and implement sales strategies, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and growth targets for the LightWELD product line.
  • Performance Management: Monitor and evaluate the performance of the sales team, providing regular feedback, conducting performance reviews, and implementing improvement plans as necessary.
  • Pipeline and Forecasting Management: Oversee the team's sales pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting to management. Work closely with Sales Representatives to maintain a healthy pipeline and close deals effectively.
  • Market Expansion: Identify opportunities to expand LightWELD's market presence, working with Sales Representatives to penetrate new markets and industries.
  • Customer Relationship Oversight: Ensure that Sales Representatives are effectively managing customer relationships and delivering excellent customer service. Step in to assist with high-value accounts or complex sales as needed.
  • Product Knowledge and Training: Facilitate ongoing training and development for the sales team, ensuring they are well-versed in LightWELD's features, benefits, and unique selling points.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Marketing, Applications Engineering, and Product Management to align sales efforts with product launches, marketing campaigns, and technical support initiatives.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze sales data and market insights to refine sales strategies, address performance gaps, and identify new opportunities for growth.
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business
  • 5+ years of Sales experience combined with 2 years of Sales Management experience


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Proven experience in sales management, preferably in a technical or industrial B2B environment.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing sales team.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decision-making.
  • Proficiency in CRM software (Dynamics 365 preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and build relationships across departments.
  • Knowledge of industrial equipment.
  • Proven sales and negotiation skills.
  • Self-motivation and enthusiasm are essential to generate various sales opportunities.
  • Technical skills and the ability to learn new technologies as required
  • Detailed oriented and strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Strong English language communications skills - written and verbal.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • MBA preferred
  • While laser experience is not required, prior engineering experience is preferred.


Physical Requirements:



  • Essential physical requirements, such as standing, stooping, or typing
  • Travel requirements 25% to 50%
