Position Highlights |
The Heat Resilience Initiative in the Arizona Institute for Resilience at the University of Arizona is a newly created program and seeks a motivated Program Coordinator to manage a variety of operational and administrative activities. The Program Coordinator will work closely with the director and researchers to build and maintain programs that advance heat resilience research, education, and outreach. Activities include coordinating research and community-engagement efforts; supporting the development of research, education, and outreach opportunities; managing communications and public outreach efforts; planning programs, symposia, and training sessions; and collecting, synthesizing, and reporting program updates and achievements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an interest in climate change, extreme heat, and resilience. The Heat Resilience Initiative addresses the global challenge of extreme heat by advancing heat research, education, and outreach. The initiative supports and leverages heat research and education efforts across the University of Arizona and works to develop future collaborative heat resilience research proposals and learning opportunities. The initiative also works with community partners and decision-makers in Arizona and beyond to address extreme heat challenges. Duties & Responsibilities |
Duties & responsibilities: * Work with the director, staff, and researchers to coordinate research and community engagement efforts on varied issues and topics related to heat resilience research and practice. * Supporting the director with the development of new research, education, and outreach opportunities. * Assist in creating and managing external communications, requiring innovation and use of knowledge of subject matter related to the program's overarching goals. * Collect and synthesize information monthly and annually about program progress toward objectives, with moderate guidance from the program director. * Provide operational support for the Heat Resilience Initiative team by creating and managing internal communications using current practice and standards for team coordination and planning. * Additional duties may be assigned. Knowledge, skills & abilities: * Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats. * Strong organizational skills. * Ability to coordinate and plan in-person and online events. * Skill in coordinating and convening diverse community members and interest groups. * Basic knowledge of, and interest in, heat resilience issues. * Familiarity with grant writing and grant management. * Familiarity with creating content and using social media platforms for program-related outreach. |
Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required and a minimum 1 year of relevant work experience may be required.

Preferred Qualifications |
Graduate degree in relevant field and content expertise and interest in areas such as climate change, extreme heat, and resilience. |
