What this job involves -The Utility Engineer supports operations, inspection, and light maintenance processes to facility architecture, mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in assigned facilities. The Utility Engineer role is to support the engineering team and follow direction of the more senior engineering team members.
What is the day to day? This position performs general maintenance including: light plumbing, lamp changes, hanging whiteboards or other non-complex maintenance tasks. Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality. Maintains service documentation. Communicates with management, partners and Facility Services Manager regarding issues, project completion timelines and workload priorities. Performs all facility equipment repairs. Maintains tools, parts, equipment and supplies in clean and safe condition. Acts as a resource for all partners in equipment and service maintenance. Candidate must be willing to work in a multi-skilled team environment. Flexibility to flow to the work will be required to accomplish all daily operations and maintenance tasks. Swing Shift: Noon to 8PM. Desired experience and technical skills - Required Minimum 2 years field experience with trade school training OR 5 years total field experience is preferred. Ability to lift 50 lbs. May be required to work overtime to meet deadlines. May need to work some weekends, evenings, or shutdown to support business needs and off hours work. Performs other duties as assigned Person must have good communication skills, both verbal and written. Good general computer skills with knowledge in E-mail, Internet, and Microsoft Word are a plus for this position. Person must be a self-motivated individual who can work independently or in a team environment. Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or national, permanent resident. Must join Union Local 39 Preferred Handyman or commercial maintenance experience Work Environment Physical ability to inspect both outdoor and indoor facilities areas in manufacturing and research environments Current Driver's License and the ability to operate motor vehicles Participation in Medical Clearance and Medical Surveillance programs Security Background Check and Clearance Pre-employment health screening and Drug Testing Lifting: The ability to lift heavy objects, up to [insert weight limit], is required. This may involve repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying of items. Standing: The position requires standing for extended periods of time, often throughout the workday. This includes maintaining balance and stability while performing various tasks. Climbing Ladders: As part of the job, climbing ladders may be necessary to reach elevated areas or access equipment. The ability to climb and descend ladders safely and confidently is essential.
