Job Summary

**This is a contracted position and will end one year from the date of hire
Uses advanced operational concepts and objectives to resolve highly complex issues. Regularly works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Primarily deals with programs and proposals with broad impact across the function, research initiative, program and / or organization. Develops and oversees the implementation of new programs and processes.
Under the general direction of the ED, act as a project manager, consultant, and analyst to the suitability of proposed and in progress Student Mental Health and Wellbeing (SMHW) projects, participating in recommendations for the organization and construction of project deliverables and accreditation services, and managing the change management and implementation of chosen solutions. This position must work cohesively with departmental level leadership and subject matter experts to ensure success and will be responsible for monitoring the effectiveness, development, and execution of major projects. Has extensive influence on SMHW organization efforts by virtue of contributions to the unit through participation in initiatives with significant implications; management of complex operation projects; participation with business units on product/solutions; and participation in RFP and RFQ processes related to SMHW International Accreditation of Counseling Services (IACS) and other accreditation agencies readiness.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $97,900 - $149,000 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The mission of Student Mental Health and Wellbeing is to optimize the mental health and wellbeing of students and learners and help them achieve academic success, personal development, and lifelong wellness. SMHW offers mental health counseling and psychiatry services, health education and promotion, health insurance support services, immunizations, and local oversight of the UC Student Health Insurance Plan.

Wellness and Health Promotion utilizes a global, holistic view of health and wellbeing to support the wellness of person, place, and planet with particular focus on the prevention and early intervention portions of the wellbeing spectrum.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Advanced knowledge of common organizational- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Technical knowledge or ability to learn necessary tools to develop requirements, processes and documentation to attain IACS readiness.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to communicate to various levels of knowledge and management levels.
  • Experience presenting complex concepts and recommendations including tailoring reports and presentations to a wide variety of audiences including executive management.
  • Communication planning and management, operational transition; and development and application of project methodologies.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Advanced project management skills.
  • Experience as primary lead of a project team for complex mission critical projects through development and implementation of project planning documents; budget development, resource, implementation.
  • Experience applying project management standards, processes, tools, team leadership, and techniques appropriate for a variety of project types, sizes and criticalities.
  • Experience managing projects and coordinating teams using hybrid methodologies.
  • Experience managing matrixed and hybrid work teams.
  • Thorough knowledge of organizational or initiative processes, protocols and procedures.
  • Process improvement, quality development and risk avoidance experience.
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Experience adapting to shifting priorities demands and timelines.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
  • Advanced analytical / problem-solving skills.
  • Analytical skills including translating knowledge into new context; interpreting, comparing and contrasting facts; ordering, grouping, and inferring concepts using methods and theories in new situations; organizing data; deconstructing components; combining and relating knowledge from several areas; drawing conclusions; comparing and discriminating between ideas; and making choices based on reasoned argument.
  • UC Student Health experience.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Project Management or equivalent combination of education and experience in organizational or program development and management, information and operations management or related field.
  • UC Student Health experience.
