Job Description Summary:

The Capital Markets Analyst II will be responsible for supporting key mortgage risk management functions within the bank's Capital Markets group, including the development and refinement of various reporting and monitoring functions. The Capital Markets Analyst II will also play a key role in development and optimization of pricing strategies and metrics. Additionally, Capital Markets Analyst II will need to utilize the following:
*Microsoft Excel
*Access and SQL
*Compass Analytics
*LOS systems (Encompass) and Pricing Engine (Optimal Blue)
*3rd Party Applications and Tools as needed

Job Details:

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  • The Capital Markets Analyst II position is a key member of the mortgage risk management team. Team members' responsibilities include the setting of daily pricing, margin and profitability analysis, hedging mortgage pipeline risk, performance of quality control on loan pricing models, performance monitoring and back testing of risk models and management reporting.
  • Maintain and develop various daily, weekly and monthly reports, as required, for management and related committees.
  • Adheres to internal compliance policies.
  • Conducts research and analysis of variances within relevant systems (Risk Management System, LOS, Pricing Engine, etc.) to ensure data accuracy.
  • As directed, hedge single family mortgage rate locks and closed loans with TBAs and sell closed loans to investors through TBAs or whole loan sales.
  • Prepare daily analytics for single family pipeline risk and p&l
  • Assist in preparing monthly journal entries related to single family pipeline
  • Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly presentations for ALCO and Finance Committee
  • Participate in monthly forecasting meetings and prepare monthly mortgage servicing rights forecast.
  • Assist in troubleshooting of risk models
  • Keep up to date on capital market and risk management trends
  • Manage large, long-term projects efficiently and independently
  • Ensure maintenance of and compliance with an effective control environment including participation in Sarbanes-Oxley efforts
  • Risk Management strategies established in the Secondary Marketing Policies & Procedures must be executed flawlessly.
  • This position has high level of responsibility with low direct supervision; the work is completed within prescribed procedures and processes as developed by management or required by investors or other entities; the Supervisor sets the direction of this position and develops action plans and procedures; specific authorities are outlined in the Secondary Marketing Policies & Procedures.
  • Maintain detailed procedures

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in Secondary Market functions strongly preferred, including experience accurately forecasting and performing other pipeline analysis, establishing and monitoring interest rates and pricing, and a familiarity with interest rate risk concepts.
  • Degree in Business/Economics or related field of study required/preferred or comparable experience.
  • Advanced VBA, Access, and SQL knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with Compass Analytics or similar mortgage risk management software preferred.
  • Experience with mortgage pricing engine(s) and loan origination system(s) preferred.
  • Work independently on delegated projects.
  • Possess good judgment, ability to accept responsibility and handle confidential information.
  • Must be a self-starter, dependable, accurate in completing responsibilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Maintains effective communication and working relationship with manager, co-workers, branches and home office departments.
  • Able to work as part of a team as well as independently, and with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Willingness to work overtime, when needed, as outlined by manager.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Professional in standards, skills and manner of dealing with others.
  • Excellent communication skills - phone, personal contact and written.
  • Ability to accept and facilitate change.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
  • Ability to analyze information and make decisions.
