The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI's brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. DFA serves the university as planning partners, problem solvers, and solution providers-striving to make it as easy as possible for people to get the services they need, when they need them. Working closely with campus fiscal management, the UCI Controller's Office is a trusted strategic partner divided into three core teams: Accounting & Fiscal Services, Procurement Services, and Financial Services.

Financial Services provides support and resources for students and the campus in the areas of billing, collections, disbursements, payment services, federal and institutional student loan administration, 1098-T reporting and PCI compliance. The university's PCI Compliance Team supports UCI merchants who process payment card transactions using a UCI merchant ID on campus and at the medical center. The team coordinates the campus PCI Compliance Program and serves in an advisory role to UCI's executive management.


Your Role on the Team

Uses professional financial services concepts. Applies organization policies and procedures to resolve a variety of moderately complicated issues. Works on financial services problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. The Loan Services Analyst will be responsible for billing and collections of federal and institutional student loans. Reconciles borrower accounts to make sure that any payments or adjustments are posted correctly and timely to borrower accounts. Review and process refunds for verified overpayments to borrowers or external customers. Assign defaulted accounts to collection agencies for further collections. Assign accounts to the Franchise Tax Board for participation in intercept collections. Update borrower accounts for current loan status. Generate and mail letters to borrowers for paid in full loans and billing statements. Respond to borrower inquiries via phone or emails.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $28.07- $33.49 (hourly)

Required:

  • Working knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems.
  • Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and decision making.
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • Skills to provide coaching and mentoring to support staff.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience Billing, collections and administration of federal and institutional student loans

Preferred:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience Account receivable and reconciliation
