What You'll Do

In this role, you will serve as an experienced individual contributor within a team, with the expectation that you will further develop your leadership, guidance, and mentoring skills. With minimal oversight from leadership, you will be responsible for supporting the goal of meeting scope, schedule, and delivery requirements.

A Configuration Manager plays a key role in achieving the long-term goals of the program while contributing to the implementation of the program's DevOps and Enterprise Tool Suite strategy. You may serve as the discipline's primary lead when working with stakeholders, utilizing strong influence to drive improvements in DevOps processes and practices.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support and enhance configuration management processes for a key customer.
  • Manage and track change requests, account for status, and report progress to completion.
  • Develop materials to support process implementation and execution.
  • Collaborate with customers, subject matter experts, and engineers to ensure data integrity and operational efficiency.
  • Manage and process change requests submitted by customers within established SLAs.
  • Lead or support the Change Control Board (CCB), maintain meeting minutes, track action items, and document decisions and outcomes.
  • Use Atlassian tools (JIRA, BitBucket, Confluence) to execute daily tasks and maintain accurate tracking of configuration management data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, ensure data fidelity, and track relevant metrics within configuration management tools.
  • Facilitate the configuration management process, providing excellent customer service throughout.
  • Prepare for and support process assessments and change control audits, ensuring compliance with established procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend new technologies or enhancements to configuration management tools.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for configuration management processes.
  • Create training materials and conduct training sessions to ensure consistent execution of processes.
  • Oversee and ensure the integrity and consistency of software products throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage, maintain, and update product configurations to support various stages of development, testing, and deployment.
  • Administer internal websites, edit scripts, and prepare documentation for software releases.
  • Design and execute configuration plans to meet specific standards.
  • Coordinate the harmonization of individual components of a product and oversee its overall configuration description.
  • Oversee the build and release of software, including version control and track revisions made to the source code.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with 7+ years of experience. (Relevant years of experience may be substituted for education.)
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance.
  • 5+ years of recent experience with IT operations processes.
  • 5+ years of experience in configuration management, including change control board leadership, change request management, and Metrics reporting.
  • Proven work experience as a Configuration Manager or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in using Atlassian tools (JIRA, BitBucket, Confluence, Ansible, Chef, Puppet) for project management, permissions, workflows, and field configuration.
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Git, Mercurial, Perforce).
  • Strong knowledge of configuration management principles and best practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks independently while aligning with organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team and provide detail-oriented support.
  • Ability to negotiate requests with project teams to meet organizational goals and customer needs in a timely manner.
  • Dedication to delivering exceptional customer service, with outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical information to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) best practices.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with multiple teams.
