The Role

As the Advisor, Financial Analysis and Business Partnering (FABP) you'll be integral to our work in helping vulnerable children achieve a brighter future. You will provide financial and analytical support for the Agency's strategic and operational planning processes. This includes supporting the annual budget processes and guiding resource allocation decisions across the Agency. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will work collaboratively with business units and the global movement to support multiple teams and divisions and ensure operational excellence in revenue and expense planning. You will closely collaborate with division leaders to provide consultative and advisory recommendations on data analysis and performance reporting.

What You'll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Business Partnering, Support, and Analysis (30%)



  • Collaborate with teams and divisions, providing guidance on budget and expense transactions, ensuring compliance with financial policies.
  • Foster and maintain trusting relationships with stakeholders to ensure seamless flow of information and enable timely, well-informed decision-making.
  • Prepare and present insightful reporting on key results, monitor trends, and communicate risks in forecasted and actual results.
  • Facilitate regular discussions with budget holders to review variances, address changes, and provide financial analysis for decision-making.
  • Monitor and report financials that influence multi-year strategic goals and priorities.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders throughout the budgeting and monitoring process to ensure that inputs are both received and provided in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Develop and produce regular financial analysis and reporting for month-end, year-end, and ad-hoc needs.
  • Analyze and give feedback on Budget vs Actual (BvA) performance for revenue and expense reporting.
  • Support budget holders and senior management in defining best practices for financial measurement.
  • Promote best practices among teams, share efficiencies, and support goal achievement by leveraging operational and financial knowledge.
  • Evolve financial reporting to provide the Senior Leadership Team with timely information for decision-making.


Annual Budget Process & Budget Revisions (40%)



  • Collaborate with FABP team and extended finance during development of the annual budget and bi-annual revisions, ensuring timely deliverables and alignment with Agency goals.
  • Provide guidance and support for the annual planning cycle.
  • Ensure excellence in revenue planning, budgeting, and reporting for a portfolio of teams and divisions.
  • Maintain integrity of budget tools and train staff as needed.
  • Analyze and summarize revenue and expense inputs, ensuring accurate translation into sources and uses.
  • Coordinate detailed reviews of business units' P&L.
  • Review, validate, and support the upload of final budgets into Agresso.


Project Management (20%)



  • Assist with financial analysis and business partnering projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, timely delivery, and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, monitor progress, and provide regular updates to stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Support federated organizational model including global projects and external benchmarking.


Capacity Building (10%)



  • Train relevant audiences on budget and planning, ensuring high-quality client service.
  • Maintain accurate internal process documentation, including updates to the Finance Manual and creation/enhancement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Support standard management reporting processes and metrics by creating templates, job aids, and producing required reporting packages.


Required qualifications for the role



  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, with at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including experience in Financial Planning & Modeling and working with large, complex data sets
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to anticipate needs and deliver prompt, effective internal client service, interacting well at all levels and across departments
  • Focused on quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement
  • Skilled in managing databases and financial management systems
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English


Preferred qualifications for the role



  • Finance experience within a federated not-for-profit/non-governmental organization
  • Experience with Unit 4 Agresso financial system and/or other ERP & CRM systems (Salesforce, Sap, Workday, Blackbaud)
  • Excel VBA, Power Query, DAX / Power BI, Tableau and other financial analysis, BI and data visualization tools
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following languages: Working knowledge of SQL and SAS OR Python or R


Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:



  • Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $84,150 - $94,050 base salary


  • Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $76,500 - $85,500 base salary
  • Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $68,850 - $76,950 base salary


The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record. Actual base salary may vary based on, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here).
