Primary Purpose of Position
The Electronic Research System Administrator supports the ongoing development, enhancement, and maintenance of the university's electronic research administration ( ERA; InfoEd) system, which consists of multiple modules including Proposal Development, Proposal Tracking, Award Tracking, Animal Facilities Management, Laboratory Animals, Biosafety, Human Subjects, Conflict of Interest, and Financial Management. Primary duties include (1) working directly with vendor to manage tickets and upgrades/changes/enhancements to InfoEd system, (2) coordinating and supporting subject matter experts tasked with identifying ongoing improvements and enhancements to the system, (3) making business decisions to configure and optimize the system, (4) developing a high level of understanding of the major business processes in the assigned areas, and (5) providing ongoing support and access to system users. The position requires a thorough understanding of the modules and system structure and functionality, including a working knowledge of workflows, data structure, user roles and permissions and reporting tools. The position requires research administration knowledge as well as project management and system implementation experience and a demonstrated commitment to customer service. The position also involves maintaining and updating manuals, training materials, and in-system help to support campus stakeholders. This position works closely with OneIT and supports users and DR leadership in compiling data and reports on an ad-hoc basis. Position also manages user access and training related to Smartsheets.
Summary of Position Responsibilities
The Electronic Research System Administrator's primary duties include:

  • Supporting the ongoing development, enhancement, and maintenance of the university's electronic research administration (ERA) system at the division level working directly with the vendor on changes, upgrades, enhancements to the system, and coordinating and supporting subject matter experts tasked with identifying and testing ongoing improvements and enhancements to the system.
  • Making business decisions to optimize the system and provide ongoing support and access to system users.
  • Prepares all necessary training documentation and updates process flows for each module.
  • Other responsibilities include creating test scenario cases for modules as updates are made, working with OneIT to solve any functional problems, and conducting training sessions for all end Users. Position also supports and manages user access to Smartsheets.

Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's of Science Degree.
  • 1+ year experience in similar role, application or business analysis experience.
  • Experience with website content management.
  • Drupal experience a plus.

  • SQL or report development experience.
  • Data analysis experience, problem solving skills.
