Description

Camp Knutson is a supportive, medically-sound camp for individuals with disabilities, medical conditions and other identified needs. We partner with other organizations to host camps for youth and adults with identified needs such as autism, heart disease, skin conditions, Down syndrome, burn survivors and youth experiencing homelessness.

Our beautiful, updated 30-acre campus is nestled between the pristine waters of Lower Whitefish and Big Trout lakes. Open year-round, our modern facilities and beautiful north-woods setting make us the perfect location for retreats, conferences, social gatherings, meetings or training events September through May. Camp Knutson is a service of Lutheran Social Service MN (LSS).

PAY:



  • $24 an hour
  • This is a unique opportunity that will allow for mentorship and the possibility for a promotion within 12-18 months of hire.


JOB SUMMARY:



  • The purpose of this position is to manage all aspects of Camp Knutson's physical plant, grounds, and all equipment related to all programs and daily operations.
  • Contribute to the growth of Camp Knutson's mission through support high quality communication, customer service, and support of campers, guests, volunteers, staff, vendors, donors and other supporters.
  • Help maintain a high quality, safe, accessible, medically sound, and secure environment for all camp participants, staff, retreat guests, donors and visitors.



QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:



  • High school diploma (or GED equivalent) required; Associate degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum of four years work experience in a maintenance capacity required.
  • 1 year of leadership experience is required; experience with volunteer coordination is strongly preferred
  • Driver's license and Motor Vehicle Check (MVR) with satisfactory driving record required
  • Incumbent must be semi-skilled in several areas and has familiarity and comfort with such areas as basic plumbing skills, small engine and automobile mechanics, keeping boats running, painting, basic carpentry and building maintenance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with different types of individuals and to effectively build relationships.
  • Team building skills, leadership skills, and ability to address challenging behaviors are essential.
  • Reading, Writing, math skills, problem solving, ability to accept/follow through with direction, recognize boundaries, creative team member who can suggest and implement strategies to enhance the service, patience, self-control and flexibility.
