GENERAL FUNCTION: Assist with overseeing the development, enhancement, and implementation of SAS Anti Money Laundering (SAML) tool. Supports the integration and analysis of all data sources into SAML using statistical monitoring tools and techniques. Generates statistical analysis / reporting to identify and report suspicious money laundering and terrorist financing activity. Works with other Financial Crimes teams to help identify potentially suspicious AML trends and patterns. The ideal candidate would have a working knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, SAR reporting requirements, and the USA PATRIOT Act. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure the monthly generation of AML cases from the SAS Anti Money Laundering tool are created accurately and on a timely basis
- Utilizing SAS/SQL, develop, implement, and refine critical AML system controls for the purpose of identifying and reporting suspicious activity in cooperation with the AML Investigations and Customer Due Diligence Units. This includes the leveraging of statistical testing and reporting techniques to identify, measure, and validate AML processes / controls.
- Represent the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) by acting as the primary point of contact for the SAML FIU "squad" and liaison directly with Financial Crimes IT partners to help implement, validate, and prioritize new and existing initiatives.
- Utilizing SAS/SQL and Excel, assist with the development of key metrics to serve as early warning risk indicators for data anomalies and system performance.
- Recommend enhancements and process improvements based on assessment of Bank's AML system and reported suspicious activity processes.
- Develop reporting using SAS/SQL to review transaction mapping from source systems to identify areas of concern or potential gaps in transaction feeds early and investigate possible source of issues and possible solutions
- Communicate significant issues to management; make recommendations when weaknesses identified.
- Partner with Lines of Business and corporate partners to effect change and promote awareness through the coordination of AML and BSA monitoring of system enhancements and statistical trend analysis.
- Maintain a cutting-edge awareness of company goals, regulatory and legislative developments, and industry trends.
- Assume additional responsibilities and lead special projects as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for project management leadership when needed and will be responsible for educating other analysts on tool performance and statistical processes when necessary. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Education: Bachelor's degree is required. A Master's degree in a quantitative or similar field is preferred.
- Certifications: AML certification is preferred.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in an analytics, quantitative or similar field is required, and a background in banking or previous exposure within the Financial Crimes / Anti Money Laundering industry is preferred. A working knowledge of Bank Secrecy, OFAC regulation, Suspicious Activity Reporting, and USA PATRIOT Act is also preferred. A strong understanding of banking products and services is required, knowledge of money laundering techniques and the technology that supports monitoring money laundering is also preferred. The incumbent must possess robust project management and organization skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Must be proactive in identifying potential concerns and following-up to resolve such issues. Possessing the ability to work independently and meet deadlines is imperative.
- Computer Skills: Prior experience with utilizing data analytics tools such as SAS/SQL and a proficiency with other Microsoft Office products is preferred
