Job Description:Reporting to the Vice President - Finance, the Director of Decision Support is responsible for
direct oversight of the Decision Support function and team, the Cost Accounting System,
Service Line profitability reporting, annual service demand budgets, pro forma valuation of new
services, and decision support system integration of clinical and financial data in a patientcentric repository. Develops and implements strategic and tactical tools, resources and
analytical support to enable financial decision-making for the entire health system. Supports the
financial integration of data for John Muir Health and is seen as the expert in collecting,
organizing, and analyzing critical data by creating, managing and continuous improvement of
models that allow leadership to look at data across the business entities and business lines in
the absence of general ledger support. The Director is the single source of this data analysis
and reporting and supports the organizational strategy for business growth by serving as the
key point of contact with external consultants and internal project groups.

b.) Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related area - Required

Experience

  • At least seven years of experience in Decision Support or Financial Management in the Healthcare field, preferably in a hospital setting - Required

  • Three years of experience leading teams.

Required Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of healthcare decision support systems and best practices, as well as clinical finance and cost accounting principles.

  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork and collaboration across departments for effective problem solving, conflict resolution, support for organizational values, and consistent achievement of objectives.

  • Thorough knowledge of healthcare decision support systems and best practices, as well as clinical finance and cost accounting principles.

  • Excellent skills in developing strategic plans, evaluating and developing staff competencies, organizing operations, and fiscal management.

  • Excellent critical-thinking and business process skills, with the ability to implement effective solutions.

  • Advanced skills to educate management and tailor decision support objectives and goals to meet a broad variety of needs.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Excellent ability to motivate, influence, and persuade others, and cultivate a strong commitment to efficiency, functionality, and quality customer service.

  • Knowledge of clinical, financial, and business information technology software, hardware, tools, techniques, and systems.

  • Experience with hospital cost accounting concepts and systems, and familiarity/understanding of hospital and professional patient billing data including healthcare reimbursement concepts.

  • Outstanding project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of and experience working with Epic, Workday, and additional associated accounting software.

Work Shift:Exempt Salaried (United States of America)

Pay Range:

$169,496.00 - $254,245.00 Salary
Offer amounts are based on demonstrated/relevant experience and/or licensure.
Pay will be adjusted to the local market if hired outside of the Bay Area.
Note: Positions at JMH which are exempt (not eligible for overtime) under the level of Manager are listed as hourly for compensation purposes on this posting. The work shift will contain the word 'exempt' on it.
