Description & Requirements
The Associate General Counsel will be a part of Forvis Mazars' legal/risk management team which is a key component of the firm's organization structure. Members of the team must demonstrate leadership, creativity, and good judgment in helping the firm manage business risks while working closely with business leaders to find practical and creative solutions to problems
This position will support the Chief Legal Officer and have significant interaction with the firm's partners, management, and all functional areas. The legal department manages a large volume of requests, and individuals in this role will need a strong ability to fluidly manage workload with internal client priorities, meet agreed deadlines, and prioritize work consistent with the firm's business objectives and requirements.
How you will contribute:
  • Provide general counsel to the firm
  • Support the firm's quality control mission
  • Resolve subpoenas directly with third parties and governmental agencies
  • Draft, revise, and negotiate professional service agreements and various other contracts with clients, vendors, and other third parties.
  • Monitor privacy laws and data security requirements for protection of confidential client information
  • Develop an understanding and appreciation of business risks and use this knowledge to manage risk and craft creative legal solutions to challenges facing the firm
  • Provide advice regarding laws, regulations, and professional standards relating to the accounting profession
We are looking for people who have Forward Vision and:
  • Must possess sound business judgement, strategic thinking, interpersonal skills, flexibility, willingness to work and develop skills/knowledge on a broad variety of legal matters, superior writing and verbal communication skills, and strong legal research and writing skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctorate
  • 3+ years or more of experience
Certifications:
  • Admission to state bar in good standing in a state in which the firm has an office
