Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. The School teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students. Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC-Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

The Accounting Technician serves as a subject matter expert within the Finance team for the School of Pharmacy. The Accounting Technician performs functions related to the management of Divisional accounts and expenditures. Primary duties and responsibilities include the review and approval of multiple financial transaction types (voucher, requisition, travel, pcard, etc.), the submission of campus journals within ConnectCarolina, reconciliation of expenditures, and reporting. The Accounting Technician also is responsible for the management of contract and grant projects and performs all financial close-out duties for those projects.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
It is essential that the selected candidate demonstrate a thorough knowledge of accounting practices and principles as well as a commitment to customer service as it relates to business operations. Timely coordination with faculty and staff requiring services and information is of the upmost importance. The selected candidate must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively within a team environment. A demonstrated ability to comply with University and State budget rules and regulations, strong attention to detail, and excellent analytical and writing skills are required. A high level of proficiency in Excel is required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Education in accounting, business administration, or related discipline and experience in budgeting or accounting work is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience with UNC accounting systems (RAMSeS, InfoPorte, and PeopleSoft/Connect Carolina).
