Maintains, manages, and develops MedStar Portal Applications which involve developing master pages, page layouts, custom web parts, site definitions, templates and features using Microsoft development tools such as Visual Studio, SharePoint designer, and other web technologies. Analyzes and evaluates current and future user requirements, procedures, and problems to develop information systems solutions.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent technical experience required
Experience
  • 5-7 years Related experience in application development including knowledge of software development methodologies and database administration. Knowledge of healthcare operations and data models
Licenses and Certifications
  • No special certification, registration or licensure required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong analytical ability to solve complex technical problems.
  • Competent in developing computer applications including desktop and server applications, project management, and communication and emulation applications.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively interface with internal/external customers.
  • Customer service skills. Strong ASP.Net, CAML, HTML, JQuery, and JavaScript skills.
  • Working knowledge in developing and maintaining portals using proprietary portal development environments such as SharePoint.
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Coordinates vendors, IS staff, and users to troubleshoot problems and resolve software or procedural issues.
  • Develops and maintains portal system documentation including procedures and techniques for the resolution of system problems in the designated documentation repositories.
  • Follows established procedures for portal development. Understands the necessity of and contributes to coding standards. Designs, codes, and tests technical solutions before moving to the production environment.
  • Leads and implements improvements, enhancements, updates, and modifications to portal solutions. Leads the development of such enhancements.
  • Plans, develops, and executes user training documentation. Develops user documentation to stimulate optimal use of standard and custom portal solutions.
  • Provides leadership in the coordination and implementation of new portal solutions with technical information systems staff and user departments. Keeps abreast of current technology, trends, and developments in the healthcare industry.
  • Provides leadership in the management of the portal environment which includes performance optimization, recovery and backup operations, and proactive monitoring of the portal environment.
  • Provides technical mentoring and coaching to team members, as necessary, to include participation in requirements analysis and functional specification definition.
  • Responsible for developing and analyzing portal performance metrics, generating reports to meet end-user information needs.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining project documentation for all portal solutions.
  • Responsible for the development, deployment, and support of all portal standard and custom applications.
  • Serves as project leader in all aspects of the development methodology including requirements analysis, functional specification definition, project work plans, test plans, and user acceptance criteria.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees. May participate in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
