The Office of Translational Research (OTR) creates environments which enable researchers and clinicians to accelerate scientific discovery and translate it into cures and research advances which significantly improve patient outcomes and quality of life. We do this by focusing on three key areas:

    Building seamless infrastructure to optimize and speed translational research
  1. Strengthening tumor-specific translational research programs, and
  2. Strengthening partnerships between translational research institutions.

The Research Program Administrator manages Seattle Translational Tumor Research (STTR) and Specimen & Data Access Network (SAN) programs within the Office of Translational Research (OTR). This role works with high-level guidance from program leadership to create programmatic strategy and oversee implementation. This position will build relationships with and foster collaborations between clinical and research faculty across STTR research teams and SAN partners, support program development and improve operational capability of the translational research teams through a variety of program-specific and cross institutional projects.



Responsibilities

  • Work with translational research team leaders to create program goals and roadmaps in support of ongoing program-specific strategy.
  • In conjunction with Program Directors, set research program goals and strategy.
  • Lead complex projects in varied environments with frequently competing deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Direct and oversee research program activities.
  • Ensure that program complies with established regulations such as IRB regulations, grant and contract regulations and Fred Hutch, or external institution, policies, and procedures.
  • Serve as a program liaison, create, and develop relationships between STTR, Fred Hutch teams and departments, CCSG and external partners. Represent STTR and SAN to other departments, individuals, and outside organizations.
  • Independently develop and lead projects to support strategic and process improvement initiatives within STTR and SAN programs and the broader translational research landscape. Set project goals and timetables, ensuring that all research and administrative activities are completed.
  • Set strategic direction and provide oversight for funding opportunities.
  • Manage STTR/SAN program coordinators, developing workload and ensuring administrator is reaching personal and programmatic goals.
  • Coordinate grant and contract acquisition and renewal, investigating potential sources of funding.
  • Develop and monitor program budget, ensuring the appropriate allocation of funds in all projects/activities.
  • Provide strategy and oversight for the submission of manuscripts for publication and conference abstracts and writing portions of articles/manuscripts as necessary.
  • Evaluate STTR and SAN ROI and ensure activities undertaken within each are tracking towards desired outcomes, adjusting implementation strategy and activities as needed.
  • Monitor program resources such as space, equipment, and personnel, ensuring that current program resource needs are met, and future program resource needs are anticipated.
  • Provide supervision to program coordinators serving STTR and SAN - daily oversight of activities, career development, regular feedback on job performance.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum of 8+ yrs related program management experience.
  • Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated relationship building skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects from inception through closure
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, complex environment.
  • Strong communications skills.
  • Solid integrity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree.
  • Ability to take initiative and use sound and independent judgment in carrying out responsibilities and managing shifting priorities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think critically, work independently, and act as a team member.
  • Positive attitude and sense of humor.
  • Knowledge of clinical and research terminology.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $91,333 to $136,968, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
