Description

Vedder Price's Chicago office is looking for an Attorney Training Manager. The Attorney Training Manager will work closely with the Director of Professional Development, Practice Area Leaders, and Firm Management to train and develop attorneys. The Attorney Training Manager will assist the Director of Professional Development with the development and implementation of high-quality lawyer training programming and the management of continuing legal education ("CLE") and licensure compliance in support of the Firm's talent development strategy and objectives. The position reports to the Director of Professional Development and Chief Attorney Professional Development Officer and will be based in the Firm's Chicago office but will work with attorneys Firm-wide.

As the Attorney Training Manager, your job duties will include but not be limited to:



  • Assist in the assessment of attorney training needs and development of recommendations for Practice Area Leaders or their designees to enhance existing training programs
  • Manage the implementation and accreditation of training programs for the firm's Vedder Price University (VPU) global training initiative for the Firm's attorneys, including legally substantive programs for the Firm's Practice Areas and Practice Groups and other training topics per the legal or continuing legal education (CLE) requirements of relevant state authorities; identify supplemental external training resources as needed
  • Manage the continuing legal education (CLE) accreditation and compliance for the Firm and its attorneys including supervising data entry; administration of and reporting for the Firm's CLE database; overseeing attorney credit reports; overseeing record keeping for state certifications and accreditation; and partnering with external vendors providing continuing legal education (CLE) tracking and support for the firm
  • Coordinate with the Marketing Department and attorneys on client-facing CLE training programs
  • Assist in the management of bar admissions of attorneys, including annual law license renewals and registrations, admissions on motion, and the bar examination process
  • Assist with associate orientation/integration, mentoring, performance evaluations, and other tasks related to attorney professional development as they arise
  • Serve as a resource to attorneys to develop and identify appropriate professional development growth opportunities; assist in the collection and analysis of data regarding same
  • Supervise and develop more junior members of the firm's attorney training and continuing legal education (CLE) team


Skills & Competencies:



  • Knowledge of continuing legal education (CLE) protocols
  • Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to respect, protect, and maintain highly confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability and strong desire to work as part of a team in a demanding, client service oriented legal services environment


Qualifications & Required Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree required; JD a plus
  • Minimum 5 years' experience preferred designing and managing training and professional development programs, preferably within a law firm, corporate or academic environment
  • Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in the following software:



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using CE Manager, viDesktop, or other learning management systems


Compensation Range: $100,000/yr. to $115,000/yr.
