Structural Designer II

Merrick & Company is seeking a mid-level experienced Structural Designer to work on a variety of projects for multiple market sectors - primarily industrial oil & gas, power plant and biofuel facilities as well as Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Energy (DOE). This is a full-time position and can be located in our Newport News, VA or Chattanooga, TN offices.

Typical wage range for this position is $32.00 - $41.00 per hour. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience.

The Structural Designer will have practical experience using AutoCAD and Revit BIM software. The ideal candidate will be competent in 3-dimensional (3D) modeling of steel structures, foundations and equipment using AutoCAD based software.

• Produce structural plans, elevations, sections, and details for steel and concrete structures.
• 3-dimensional (3D) modeling using AutoCAD.
• 2-dimensional (2D) building layouts and detailing using AutoCAD.
• Read plans, pick up redlined drawings and notes.

• Minimum four (4) years of experience as a structural designer / drafter.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Must be familiar with commonly used structural steel detailing, foundation detailing, sheet layouts and plan reading.
• Experience with CAD design of steel and concrete structures and foundations.
• High School Diploma / GED.
• Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
