Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Graduation from a four-year college/university with one year of general administrative experience involving public contact, oral and written communication, and the interpretation of program policy and procedures preferably in the field of teaching, student services, or a related educational capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Supervisor prefers 2 - 3 years of experience in financial aid or enrollment management. The successful applicant should possess exceptional written and oral communication skills, exhibit confidence while interfacing with a variety of customers; ability to conduct workshops and possess good leadership; skilled in applying information technology techniques (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel) to complete tasks and working knowledge of the Financial Aid Banner System. Dimensions desired: self-starter requiring minimal supervision, able to handle multiply tasks, process- oriented, make decisions independently; pay close attention to details; apply regulations with accuracy; possess good interpersonal skills to deal effectively with a diverse student population; applies knowledge of University academic programs and student services; ability to interpret financial details is key; ability to plan and organize cyclic work in order to meet target dates is important to the daily operation.

Primary Purpose of Position
This position assist with the day to day operations of the office, work collaboratively with auditors, write and review office policies and procedures, provide training for the staff, handling Call Center Staff, Front Desk Associates, and Federal Student Employment assignment and reporting. The individual in this position also assumes leadership and decision-making responsibility in any situation where the Sr. Associate Director is unavailable. The position will have direct supervisory responsibility over a unit(s) to meet the business needs of the office and university.

The primary purpose of the Office of Student Financial Aid is to administer financial aid in a professional and compassionate manner to students and other customers while assuring the University's compliance with Federal, State and Institutional regulations. The office is also responsible for reconciling programs, conducting workshops, ensuring compliance with athletic aid as well as other responsibilities.
Work Hours 8-5pm M-F
Is this position eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. On-site (Employees are primarily in the office and/or have a critical job requirement that requires dedicated office space on-site)

Duties
The Associate Director must communicate orally and written with parents, students, staff, other department heads, and managers. The Associate Director will serve in the absence on the Student Services Committee. The person in this position should be able to present information on financial assistance to the public at regional, local and institutional conferences. The Associate Director must be an active listener, give constructive feedback, demonstrate nonverbal communication, and develop rapport with stakeholders.


Required Competency Program Management
Duties
The Associate Director organizes document processing within the Financial Aid Office, serves as the Work-Study program assistant, and in addition, serves as the supervisor for Work-Study students in the Financial Aid office. The Associate Director assists the Student Employment Manager in all aspects of student employment. This position also works with the Sr. Associate Director to ensure that the Study Abroad program documentation is complete and recorded accurately.

Duties
Awards financial aid, including but not limited to Federal Work-Study, in accordance with Federal State and institutional guidelines. May review special circumstances and independent appeals. The incumbent applies multiple regulations to complete assignments (i.e. compliance with the Privacy Act). The candidate must have knowledge and use of effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions and/or reaching conclusions. Takes action consistent with available facts, constraints and anticipated consequences.

Performs verification procedures, reviews financial aid records for eligibility requirements; reviews Satisfactory Academic Progress; audits files, develops and disseminates financial aid information to a diverse public. The position utilizes information technology in completing daily tasks. Collects and inputs data and performs research and analysis for supervisory review. Assists with program improvements. Adheres to university, state, and federal confidentiality regulations. Assists with program improvements and documentation.
