This is a full time, salaried position with evening shifts, generally 3pm - 11:30pm, located at the Scripps Health core lab in Sorrento Valley.

The Laboratory Supervisor will:

• Oversee a talented clinical lab team of 15-20 members (microbiology and molecular) at the Sorrento Mesa core lab
• Responsible for oversight of the activities and functions of a department.
• Provides functional expertise to staff and leadership.
• Manage performance evaluations, provide direct one-on-one coaching and training for new hires
• Participates in and leads standards of practice and process improvement activities.
• Participates in hiring, oversees daily productivity, and creates staffing schedule.
• Ensures effective use of system resources.
• Ensures policy and procedures are followed by staff.
• Work bench as needed

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

• Bachelor's degree
• 5 Years experience in lab services
• At least 1.5 years as a clinical lab scientist
  
  

Required Certification/Registration:

• CLS certification (MTA generalist or limited license MTE or PHM)
  
  

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

• Leadership experience
• CLS experience in microbiology
