The Building People, LLC, has a position open for Senior Event Project Manager in the Washington D.C. area. This support includes support of large scale, multi-day events as well as smaller workshops and training events onsite at government site in Alexandria, VA.

The Senior Event Project Manager shall have experience of event projects at a large scale and facility management in various services and supervisory positions. This person shall have the following skills, abilities, and competencies:



  • Expertise in conference space utilization and space arrangements to suit the events' purposes for all size meetings and events. (Includes Fire Code regulations, agency regulations and procedures, etc)
  • Operate in a Special Assistant role to the Director of Meeting and Events Management for the agency including take a lead role in special projects and events
  • Expertise in executing all stages of an event and budget from planning to execution, and closeout, in a lead role.
  • Schedule and manage support staff.
  • Train employees in conference services related hospitality, audiovisual equipment operation, and coordination of catered functions.
  • Create and maintain Standard Operation Procedures, and track and provide training to staff.
  • Responsible for the Day-to-Day Operation for AV and House Keeping Staff.
  • Fluency in MS Office, MS Project, and resource management systems.


Required Experience & Skills



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Skilled in internet searches and comfortable with online tools
  • Ability to work independently and track time spent on multiple projects
  • Able to track travel and conference budgets
  • Familiarity with GSA per diems and federal travel regulations a plus


Preferred Experience & Skills



  • Eight years of conference or event planning and management


Required Education



  • Bachelor's Degree or four (4) years of direct experience may be substituted.
