Overview

We are seeking a Linux Engineer - Epic ODBA, with expertise in supporting enterprise-level Linux system infrastructure for complex systems and interconnected technologies. The ideal candidate will ensure optimal performance and utilization through day-to-day support and administration. In addition, this role will serve as the Epic Operational Database Administrator, responsible for overseeing all aspects of our Epic ODB environments.

Responsibilities

Linux Engineering

  • Plans and coordinates the installation and testing of system software and related hardware.
  • Installs, configures, maintains, and supports servers in a Linux environment used to run various enterprise applications.
  • Detects and troubleshoots system operational and functional issues and performs maintenance routines to ensure continuous system availability.
  • Analyzes software and hardware environments to determine any system defects, identifies and resolves system issues in a timely manner.
  • Participates in on-call rotation to provide after-hours support.
  • Suggests and/or implements solutions to resolve problems and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.

Epic Operation Database Management

  • Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of Epic ODB environments that serve production, reporting, DR, training, and non-production.
  • Installs and maintains the administrative and monitoring tools necessary for high levels of availability and performance of Epic system.
  • Applies IRIS and Epic upgrades and updates to production and non-production environments.
  • Configures and maintains environment copies according to the environment strategy.
  • Oversees and is responsible for infrastructure and upgrade projects on Epic IRIS platform and assists non-infrastructure teams with technical considerations in their projects.
  • Plans and coordinates the management of system software, related hardware and configurations while continuously developing procedures, tools and scripts for security and management.
  • Develops and implements disaster recovery and business continuity procedures to ensure business continuity including developing data backups and retrieval techniques in case of failure, redundancy, etc.
  • Develops performance improvement initiatives for system environment to provide the best user experience possible.
  • Plans and executes projects within approved timelines.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Associates degree in related filed or direct and applicable work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience:

  • Three years AIX and/or Unix/Linux technical experience
  • Five years AIX and/or Unix/Linux technical experience preferred
  • Previous Healthcare IT background preferred

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Epic ODBA Certification within 12 months
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Certification within 12 months
  • Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
  • Current Epic ODBA Certification preferred
  • Current Red Hat Enterprise Linux Certification preferred
