A Brief Overview The Senior Training Manager of Maintenance is responsible for creating and implementing maintenance training programs and overseeing the development of careers. This role sets performance metrics, evaluates productivity, and assists workers with creating long-term career plans within the organization. This position assists management in meeting staff development goals.
What you will do
- Collaborates and consults with management to understand the business outcomes essential for organizational success.
- Designs and develops maintenance training programs that equip staff with the required skills to achieve the organization's initiatives and mission.
- Ensures compliance and consistency with HMC's standardized policies, procedures, and company goals.
- Implements training and conducts follow-up on evaluation of training for all levels of staff that enhance productivity and quality of work and build employee loyalty, engagement, and morale; modifyies programs, as needed.
- Oversees the ongoing development and continuous training support for all on site maintenance team members with a primary emphasis in Maintenance Director/Maintenance Manager/COM Manager Onboarding and leadership development.
- Accepts responsibility for the ongoing development and continuous training support for all Training Managers within their portfolio.
- Utilizes key performance indicators and other metrics to ensure the effective development, coordination, and presentation of training and development programs.
- Develops and facilitates trainer development programs and coach others involved in training efforts, providing effective growth and career/professional development opportunities (including risk management and maintenance skill based training).
- Establishes training standards and provides quality assurance for training activities conducted by other departments in the organization.
- Ensures all learning and skill development programs are built with a consistent and organized methodology to include needs assessment, return on investment/expectations, success evaluation, quality control, and adult learning techniques.
- Works closely with the Directors of Environmental and Safety to train portfolio compliance with Federal, State, and local EPA, OSHA, DOT, and other agency regulatory requirements.
- Coordinates all SHARP training requirements and assignments with the Maintenance, Safety, and Environmental Team.
- Implements and provides ongoing support for all maintenance training and mentoring programs.
- Provides in person, on-site training as requested or determined to support the business needs.
- Facilitates and participates in cross-functional project teams and department team meetings.
- In collaboration with HMC leadership, assists with the development of maintenance training enhancements on a regular basis to ensure compliance and consistency with HMC's standardized policies, procedures, and company goals.
- Plans and implements facilitation of activities and events, material production and distribution, and other resources to ensure that operations are managed within authorized budgets.
- Assists with participation on strategic plans and company goals.
- Manages and completes correspondence for HMC's Training Email, make necessary updates to HMC's Learning Management System, track and assist with learning content updates, and complete employee follow up, etc.
- This position requires driving for the Company using either 1) a Company vehicle, at any frequency from Rarely to Constantly; or, 2) a Personal or Rental vehicle to conduct Company business more than 50% of the time to perform work duties.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Education, Organizational Development, Engineering, Construction Management, or other related discipline. In lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, 4-6 years of Facilities Management experience within the multi-family industry and training and development experience is required. Preferred
- 4-6 years training and development experience in the areas of facilitating, consulting, coaching, program development, leadership training and organizational development. Required and
- 4-6 years of Facilities Management experience within the multi-family industry. Required
- have knowledge of the following trades/skills: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance and five or more years' experience in facilities maintenance. Required
- experience developing and implementing programs to build employee loyalty, engagement and morale. Preferred
- previous experience with Yardi. Preferred
- previous experience managing others. Preferred
- Thorough knowledge of learning concepts, training and development methods and techniques.
- Knowledge of principles of organizational development and organizational effectiveness.
- Extensive knowledge of leadership, soft skills, employee development, , facilities maintenance, maintenance skilled trades, and technical training.
- Ability to perform and interpret needs analysis, and translate the findings into actionable next steps. Strong analytical statistical, quantitative, and deduction skills and ability to make qualitative judgments of training, education and development resources in all types and formats.
- Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning processes, instructional design techniques, and evaluation methodologies.
- Strong planning and project management skills and ability to apply these skills in effective working partnerships across organizational lines.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills, including group facilitation and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including leadership, influencing, and relationship-building across functions. Ability to identify, use, understand and manage emotions in positive ways to empathize with others, overcome challenges, and defuse conflict; self-awareness.
- Ability to work with management to align learning/leadership development with succession planning initiatives.
- Ability to organize/prioritize work, manage multiple tasks and projects and function effectively as a contributor to multiple initiatives.
- Ability to create momentum and foster organizational change.
- Strong computer skills to include knowledge of software used to develop written materials, presentation materials and graphical material.
- Requires a self-motivated, detail oriented, independent thinker who can be a part of a team and demonstrates strong attention to detail, and knowledge of operations procedures.
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and industry professionals.
- Ability to travel throughout the division to provide training support as identified by the Director of Learning and Development.
- Maintains knowledge of applicable laws and ensures ongoing compliance.
- Maintains training and facilitation certifications to include completion of internal training programs.
- Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization as well as working with the military community and the military command.
- Must demonstrate effective leadership and strong technical knowledge with a positive and service-oriented attitude.

Compensation We are committed to offering competitive and equitable compensation. The hiring range for this position is generally between $83,200 - $106,100, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus. Final salaries will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, licenses, certifications, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the general Hiring Range for the role. Hiring at the top of the range is reserved for exceptionally qualified candidates. We consider internal and external factors as a part of every final offer.
