The Position

2025 Summer Intern - Antibody Engineering

Department Summary

The department of Antibody Engineering seeks to discover and engineer life-changing antibody drugs through pioneering science and technology. We are seeking a talented intern to work with dynamic and highly motivated teams to drive the development of antibody therapeutics for unmet medical needs. The intern will work with scientists in Antibody Engineering to drive the development of new antibody technologies and discovery platforms. This role offers hands-on experience in drug development, including in vitro antibody engineering, protein design and in vitro display platforms.

This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.

The Opportunity

  • Application of protein engineering techniques for the improvement of antibody binding and other developability properties.

  • Construction, screening, and analysis of large antibody libraries utilizing in vitro display platforms such as ribosome and yeast display.

  • Analysis of antibody binding via FACS, SPR and other techniques.

  • Development of oral and/or written dissemination of findings for discussions with internal/external collaborators, meetings and journal articles.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June 2025.

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are (Required)

Required Education

You meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must be pursuing a Master's degree (enrolled student)

  • Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student)

Required majors: Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Cell/Molecular/Cancer Biology, or related disciplines.

Required skills:

  • Hands-on experience with core molecular biology techniques (cloning, cell culture, biochemical assays etc.).

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new techniques, problem solve, and work both independently and in a team environment.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.

  • Familiarity with protein engineering is a plus, but not required and the position provides an excellent environment to develop those skills.

  • Previous experience with analyzing protein and DNA sequences and structures using different softwares like PyMol, Snapgene, Geneious, Benchling, etc. is desirable.

  • Familiarity with basic scripting (Python, R or Matlab) would be a bonus.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location ofCalifornia is $40.00- $45.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
