Care Continuum Management is comprised of hospital operations specific to Case Management, Social Work, and Utilization Management, which includes over 200 staff and leaders. Under the general director of the operations manager, and with oversight from the executive director, the administrative intern supports key functions to ensure each department is optimized for staff, leadership, care teams and patients. The work is fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, and highly collaborative, involving numerous departments across the hospital and many community partners.

This internship would be ideal for a candidate in a healthcare management major as it presents an opportunity to have a direct impact on inpatient hospital operations and gain experience on administrative systems like scheduling and payroll.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Phone triage to support care coordination requests from post-acute partners, and patients and families.
  2. Work in partnership with nursing and social work directors to complete schedules.
  3. Process payroll updates.
  4. Pick-up and distribute of T Passes.
  5. Oversees department supplies, office moves, and work order requests.
  6. Processes reimbursement requests and submit expenses on behalf of Managers.
  7. Issue credential packets to visiting liaisons from non-acute provider agencies, and payors.
  8. Maintains office /order office supplies, keep supplies well stocked, and ensures equipment is in working order.
  9. Performs general office duties, photocopying, mail pick-up and delivery, filing, etc.
  10. Actual job duties may vary depending on coverage needs. Duties may include assignment of the following responsibilities or cross coverage responsibility.

Qualifications

Level of education required:

- Higher level education in process

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:



  • Perform administrative duties under minimal supervision at the highest proficiency level.
  • Highly proficient in all communication skills (phone, verbal and written). Ability to handle sensitive information and situations with poise and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational, coordination and judgment skills. Ability to prioritize effectively. Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, following established protocols, and work within systems.
  • Ability to problem solves and troubleshoots. Ability to analyze a situation and determine best course of action within established guidelines.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment where differences are respected, supported and are free from stereotyping and offensive comments
  • Be professional when approached about behaviors that might be perceived as disrespectful
