The Position

We are looking for a Clinical Operations Therapeutic Area Leader to lead and drive the delivery of our Oncology-Solid Tumors' Portfolio. This senior people leadership position holds significant accountability for clinical operations strategy and execution as well as enterprise collaboration. PD's mission is to improve patients' lives around the world through unique medicines that have a meaningful impact. Cross functionally we conduct global clinical trials, analyze results, monitor safety, and work with regulatory authorities to provide truly differentiated medicines to patients. Our primary therapeutic focus areas are Oncology, Hematology, Neurology, Immunology, Ophthalmology, Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolism. The Opportunity: The Oncology-Solid Tumors Clinical Operations Therapeutic Area Leader in PDG at Roche/Genentech is responsible and accountable for the strategy and delivery of the PD portfolio of programs and studies in Oncology-Solid Tumors. As the Oncology-Solid Tumors Therapeutic Area Leader, you will: Develop and Refine Oncology-Solid Tumors Portfolio Strategy Accountable for the overall PD clinical operations strategy for Oncology-Solid Tumors. Continuously adapt the strategy to the changing landscape to ensure alignment with the Clinical Development Plan (CDP) and the One Pharma Strategy. Portfolio Oversight and Risk Management Provide active oversight of asset and study delivery, maintaining awareness of portfolio status, identifying risks, and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure successful clinical trial execution. Strategic Stakeholder Alignment and Decision-Making Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including PDG, APO, COEs, and enterprise teams, to drive alignment. Act as a key decision-maker for prioritizing and guiding strategic operational decisions for the Oncology-Solid Tumors portfolio. Operational Leadership and Process Innovation Leverage data analytics and portfolio optimization expertise to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and budget management. Foster innovation by implementing new solutions and optimizing processes to improve probability of technical success (PTS) and patient-centered research. Representation and Enterprise Influence Serve as the PDG voice for Oncology-Solid Tumors within Roche, building collaborative relationships with internal leaders and external partners, including health authorities, patient advocacy organizations, Therapeutic Area Experts (TAEs), and vendors. Leadership and Talent Development Lead a matrixed organization of ~150 employees, including 10-12 direct reports. Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and high performance while championing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) to empower underrepresented voices and strengthen the talent pipeline. Collective Leadership with an Enterprise Perspective Represent Oncology-Solid Tumors as a member of the Portfolio Delivery Leadership Team. Provide collective leadership to align PDG and PD organizational priorities in service of patients, investigative sites, and Roche's broader mission. People Management and Administrative Responsibilities Manage performance and growth through feedback, coaching, and development planning. Oversee administrative tasks related to team operations, such as Workday processes and employment matters, to ensure effective team management. Who you are:
This position can be located at the Basel, Switzerland; South San Francisco, United States; Welwyn, England; or Mississauga, Canada HQ sites. Expectation of ongoing and sustained campus presence at the site in compliance with local requirements. Relocation benefits are available for this posting. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $227,600 - $422,600. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
