Required Qualifications

In an environment where the CertainTeed Siding Products Group (CT SPG) is developing new Lines of Business and the existing business needs to become ever more customer-centric, the Sr Manager, Strategic Fulfillment enables this growth. This role understands how SPG's customers' business models, processes and expectations are evolving and leads the development and implementation of strategies to transform SPG's service model to support growth with key customers and channels (including retail) and to ensure efficient and effective fulfillment processes that meet customer demands and service level agreements.

Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain who reports to the General Manager of the Siding business, this role will closely collaborate with Operations, Planning, Procurement, Product Management and Sales (among other functions) to improve the customer experience by optimizing SPG's warehouse network design and utilization. This entails utilizing our existing network of warehouses (both the 14 warehouses within SPG but also within Saint-Gobain at large) to their full potential and developing new locations as needed to support the aforementioned growth and new service needs. Speed to market is critical and the focus this role brings will allow SPG to be successful in launching new products and service models. As the single point of contact for planning and execution of product launches in all Lines of Business as it relates to warehouse space requirements and utilization, the Sr Manager, Strategic Fulfillment creates detailed launch plans, including project milestones, resource allocation, risk assessment, and contingency plans to ensure successful execution. The warehouse requirements include space for both Finished Goods and Raw Materials (micro ingredients, ASA, colorants etc.).

As part of implementing these strategies, this role is also the primary point of contact for both Saint-Gobain's real estate broker and any Third-Party Logistics companies (3PL) whose services may be needed to support SPG's service. The Sr Manager, Strategic Fulfillment will define and update SPG's requirements for these partners and will develop strategies to represent the interests of the group in lease negotiations and other activities, and will summarize and make recommendations to SPG's Management as it relates to financial implications.

The Sr Manager, Strategic Fulfillment will work with WCM, Plant Warehouse Managers and the Manufacturing Fulfillment Manager in driving the adoption and implementation of cutting-edge technologies in storage, picking, and inventory management, enhancing operational efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. The candidate will also work on leveraging data insights and best practices to identify and implement cost efficiencies where possible. This will include a better understanding of warehouse efficiency opportunities and collaboration with these teams on automation projects, while always keeping safety at the forefront and ensuring all warehouse operations (CT-owned, CT-leased or 3PL) comply with regulatory requirements

Lead warehouse strategy for SPG



  • Leverage existing warehouse network across CT/SG and develop new warehouse locations to enable growth for SPG (both internal and external). Examples of initiatives are enabling pool trucks, milk runs, rail service and other new service models.
  • Enable 2-step type of services to SPG customers, including but not limited to warehouse setups (in existing or new SPG locations) to break bulk shipments and pick smaller quantities such as cartons or pieces.
  • Ensures inputs and coordination from key functions (Product Managers, Sales, Transportation, Operations, Planning, Procurement) to define strategy. Transportation alignment to include equipment and dock types.
  • Point of contact for planning and execution of product launches in all Lines of Business as it relates to warehouse space requirements and utilization.
  • Project Management: Create detailed launch plans, including project milestones, resource allocation, risk assessment, and contingency plans to ensure successful execution of projects that will have a warehouse component. Present service models and financial implications to Senior Management.
  • Coordinate with Newmark (SG real estate broker) to define warehousing requirements, support negotiations and secure leases
  • Own and foster 3PL relationships on behalf of SPG
  • Ensure SPG's warehouse needs are met to store and distribute Raw Materials to our various plants


Warehouse processes improvement and optimization



  • Drive the adoption of cutting-edge and best-in-class technologies in storage, picking, and inventory management, enhancing operational efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Assist Plant Warehouse Managers and Manufacturing Fulfilment Manager in implementing such technologies (examples include VR, AI, use of drones, etc.).
  • Develop, maintain and publish metrics and create relevant dashboards of warehouse activities, service metrics and cost reduction initiatives (Power BI preferred). Examples include metrics related to fulfillment speed, truck loading, warehouse utilization etc.
  • Leverage data insights to improve performance (lbs and squares handled per labor hour, Trucks loaded / FTE etc.) and impact on P&L by driving cost efficiencies where possible in collaboration with WCM department


Other



  • Support Circular Economy initiatives by identifying and guiding implementation of regional collection hubs and/or shredding centers to optimize transportation costs for recycled PVC products.
  • Travel to plants, warehouses and customers as needed to ensure understanding of needs and drive implementation of projects (~25-30%)
  • Strong alignment with Sales as our customer base evolves and consolidates
  • Manage resource: 1 direct report (Manufacturing Fulfillment Manager) who is SPG-wide expert on warehouses (layout, racking solutions and equipment recommendations), and coordinates Best Practices across sites, coordinates projects related to MHE fleet improvements, leads SAP/WM implementations and maintenance, and leads Kaizens/cost savings initiatives linked to warehousing

To make sure nothing is forgotten

  • Bachelor's Degree Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering or related field required
  • Master's Degree Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, MBA or related field preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of work experienceWarehouse Management, Warehouse Operations, Network Modeling, Inventory Management, Inventory Control or related field required
  • Project Management experience required
