Overview
TRC is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Operations Manager to lead the technical operations and office administration for a growing Electric Distribution Engineering Practice. This position will work directly with clients and develop customer relationships while providing technical direction to a staff of designers and engineers. This position develops procedures and delivers services to meet client contract requirements and specifications. Leads office staff to meet client and Distribution Engineering practice goals and objectives. An eligible candidate will be a hands-on, highly skilled manager with a combination of management and technical experience. TRC's Power Delivery Group provides a wide variety of engineering and operational services to the power and utility industries, and the selected candidate will have a core knowledge and ability to interface between multi-disciplined groups within TRC and with utility clients. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage multiple teams located in our south regional offices in delivering distribution projects to our clients.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure that deliverables meet or exceed the client's expectations.
- Collaborate with clients to develop policy, procedure and quality expectations that meet client requirements and increase effectiveness of our deliverables.
- Manage the staff at various offices and general administration of the office day to day activities in coordination with the Director or Office Practice Lead of Distribution Engineering.
- Work directly with office supervisors in developing the resource plans, design criteria, estimating functions and client proposals for our distribution engineering services.
- Develop strong partnerships with other Distribution Engineering offices and other TRC sectors to increase business and market potential for TRC.
- Be able to travel as needed to develop new client relationships and manage the solicitations by utilities for new engineering opportunities.
- Develop, manage, and submit regular reports to track operational and financial results as needed.
Responsibilities
- Preferred BS degree in a technical discipline preferably electrical engineering or demonstrated experience and qualifications in distribution utility engineering or distribution project management.
- Demonstrated management and leadership skills, combined with creativity and technical background to understand, and develop the Distribution business.
- Candidates must be team oriented and forward-thinking managers.
- Hands-on management experience in a fast-paced consulting environment with exceptional attention to detail and client service.
- Success in developing and implementing plans and management of budgets and resources.
- Strong communication skills, including presentations to senior management and both verbal and written skills to staff, local management, and client representatives. *
- Strong PC skills with the full suite of Microsoft products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge or experience with GIS packages or deliverables.
- Understanding of distribution engineering requirements including utility sub- transmission requirements and basic regulatory guidelines.
- Demonstrated management experience directing an engineering or design work team in delivering and executing goals and objectives.
- Direct experience in delivering professional distribution services to the electric utility sector.
- Working knowledge of NESC guidelines and utility design standards.
- Manage employee capabilities and performance to maximize the effectiveness of the region while ensuring all projects are properly staffed to obtain desired goals.
- Manage revenues, overheads, net income, and gross margin in order to effectively meet or exceed profitability, quality performance targets and other goals.
- Ensure weekly billable and utilization goals are met as defined by the project guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Follow all TRC Code of Safe Practices as outlined in the company safety policies and manage these requirements for the staff. Responsible for all quality assurance and control policies for engineering deliverables to clients and ensuring that all quality expectations by clients are met.
- Demonstrate professionalism and leadership to staff and client representatives, and build cooperation through credibility, integrity and expertise in all activities and correspondence.
- Generate enthusiasm, motivation, and commitment to TRC's company mission, and actively resolve conflicts through effective conflict management with staff.
- Develop an environment of teamwork with management and staff and promote positive morale and cooperation among staff members.

- Ability to manage/supervise people remotely.
- Travel and Workplace: This position requires oversight and periodic travel to multiple south region offices and client locations in south Texas.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors. Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.

Salary Range
USD $115,000.00 - USD $130,000.00 /Yr.
