Our Environmental Sector delivers comprehensive environmental solutions to meet the full project lifecycle needs of clients in renewable energy, oil & gas, transportation, and manufacturing industries. With one of the largest multimedia air and land permitting and compliance teams in the country, we support client success in manufacturing and industry, liquids delivery and processing, natural gas storage and delivery, power generation and delivery, and transportation projects.

TRC is seeking an Economics Intern for Summer 2025 to join our professional team supporting our clients growing needs for socioeconomic evaluations, planning and documentation. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual looking for career growth and experience related to socioeconomic analyses and economic impact analyses. Our team provides support for evaluating, planning, siting, and permitting challenging projects, primarily for industrial, utility, renewable energy, oil - gas, and public sector clients. The position may be remote or hybrid/remote with the availability to meet periodically in a local TRC office.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of reports and exhibits addressing socioeconomics
  • Analyze demographic and other data from the U.S. Census Bureau
  • Prepare summary reports, technical memoranda, and email correspondence
  • Perform economic impact analyses using IMPLAN or similar software (training provided)
  • Desktop research of communities and stakeholders
  • Support the development of innovative approaches and tools for data analysis
  • Prepare and deliver PowerPoint presentations
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal TRC staff
  • Support the development of thought leadership pieces
  • Monitor changing regulatory conditions
  • Utilize internal mapping programs (GIS skills a plus, but not required)
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • Pursuing Bachelors degree in Economics, Business Economics, or similar field
  • Strong ability to prioritize, organize, and perform across multiple work assignments
  • Ability to draw insights from data analysis
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical communication skills are mandatory
  • Intuitive and creative thinker
  • A consultative demeanor and ability to work with clients and offer solutions when needed
  • Ability to work independently or on a team and cross-collaboratively with other teams
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

The following skills and experience are a plus but not required:

  • Previous internship experience in fast-paced, project-driven environment
  • Experience with economic impact modeling, such as IMPLAN, REMI, or RIMS II
  • Familiarity with GIS

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
