Job DescriptionPrimary Location: Ogden, UtahDiesel Mechanic: Repairs and maintains fleet vehicles and equipment including heavy to light trucks, cars, trailers, and forklifts and conducts light manufacturing by performing the following duties. Reads problem description and diagnosis equipment to determine malfunction and corrective action necessary for repair. Inspects vehicles for defective equipment. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on all fleet vehicle systems. Overhauls gas or diesel engines. Drives or operates repaired vehicles and equipment to verify conformance to specifications. Installs special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to technical manuals or schematic drawings. Wears company provided uniform and safety devices as appropriate to comply with safety standards and to present a professional image. Other duties may be assigned by the immediate supervisor or other supervisor at any time. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESLead mechanic supervises subordinate mechanics. QUALIFICATIONSBe able to travel 20% of time. Provide own basic hand tools. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSValid Driver's License, Commercial Driver's License, Class A, Forklift Certified by company. Obtain and maintain OSHA forklift safety certification. Applications and certifications for equipment. COMMUNICATION SKILLSAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to perform basic functions of math in all units of measure and formats. Ability to interpret rate, ratio, percent, and graphs. REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
