Intern Sports Performance Coach (Through May 30th)

Under supervision of Director of Athletic Performance, this individual will oversee the implementation of training aspects for the Softball prgoram as well as design and implement all aspects of Athletic Performance for the Women's Golf program. The position would also be responsible for assisting in safety and instruction with the Baseball and Volleyball programs. Our Women's Golf program would primarily be weight-room based, periodized, and individualized to meet the needs of each student-athlete. In addition, speed and agility as well as sprint training would be designed and implemented for Softball. Other duties would include assisting with nutrition station needs, general cleaning and disinfecting and transporting Hiland Dairy chocolate milk and Rockin' Protein orders.

  • Instruct strength training and conditioning exercises to student-athletes, and oversee team workouts, on the court, field and in the APC. Communicate with coaches and student-athletes on individual student-athlete progress and plans for improvement.
  • Organize, design and implement workouts for student-athletes. Work to improve knowledge of workout design and implementation.
  • Assist in maintaining nutrition table and nutrition supplementation program and transporting nutrition items.
  • Supervise daily operation of weight room/equipment maintenance and general cleaning.
  • Implement and assess testing data from weight-room and assist in practice/game data concerning internal and external load monitoring.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelors' Degree in related area.
  • 1-2 years or internship experience in related area.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Basic knowledge of Olympic lifting and variations.
  • Knowledge of specific sport concepts/strategies and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of basic statistics.
  • Knowledge of physical conditioning techniques and weight training.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal/human relations skills with a desire to collaborate with colleagues.

Licenses/Certifications:



  • CSCS or SCCC
  • CPR/First Aid/AED
  • USAW Sports Performance Level I (preferred)
