Job Summary:

The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine seeks a physician scientist, MD or MD/PhD, with experience in clinical, translational and basic science research. The primary focus will be on mechanisms underlying the development and treatment of atrial fibrillation, heart failure or congenital and acquired cardiac arrhythmias. The physician scientist will be expected to engage in active collaborative research at the UW-Cardiovascular Research Center, build clinical and/or translational research in the division, have an excellent track record of publications in peer reviewed journals, and obtain/maintain independent extramural funding.


Responsibilities:

Provide inpatient and outpatient clinic attending services at UW Hospitals and Clinics locations in Madison and at additional sites within the region. Will also participate in teaching medical students, residents and fellows, including CME lectures, as well as clinical research endeavors.

The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

For appointment at Associate or Full Professor rank on the Tenure Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the Tenure Track.


License/Certification:

Required
Must be eligible for a WI Medical License

Preferred
Board certification in Cardiovascular Medicine and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology by start date


Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 80% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Additional Information:

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles listed in this posting. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.
