GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for directing and supervising the financial accounting and reporting functions of Grand Island Regional Medical Center (GIRMC) and all related entities. Involved in supporting presentations to the board finance and audit committee and will work closely with the senior leadership team and peers across all GIRMC entities. Works closely with service line leaders, human resources and information technology and their staff to provide education regarding finance and accounting procedures and to explore how the accounting and finance functions can support their operations. Responsibilities include general accounting, tax compliance, financial statement reporting and analysis, capital and investment structure, and audits.

Reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Plans, organizes, and coordinates financial operations of GIRMC and all of its entities to control receipts of revenue, expenditures of funds and conservation of assets.

3. *Consistently analyzes financial data and presents financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicates monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements; monitors progress and changes and keeps senior leadership abreast of GIRMC's financial status.

4. Supports the CFO in engaging the board's audit and finance committees around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery.

5. *Complies with federal, state and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements , filing financial reports and advising management on needed actions.

6. Coordinates year-end audits with public accounting firm to assure limited adjustments.

7. *Provides adequate cash forecasting so that operating and capital expenditures can be met.

8. Works with investment and debt consultants to implement plans and strategies approved by the finance committee and maintains relations with debt rating agencies.

9. *Hires, orients, supervises and evaluates staff under direct supervision.

10. Keeps CFO informed on the status of operations.

11. *Complies with all regulatory requirements such as taxes and fiduciary compliance as appropriate.

12. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

13. Participates in and/or leads meetings, committees, strategic planning and lean projects as assigned.

14. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.

3. Knowledge of all Federal, State, and regulatory agency requirements affecting not-for-profit and healthcare institutions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. Masters degree or CPA preferred. Minimum of five (5) years accounting or finance experience, with three (3) years in healthcare accounting/finance required. Minimum of three (3) years of management experience preferred. Experience in complex or larger organizations preferred.
