Purpose

The Financial Analyst in CAEE is responsible to provide advance accounting support for the department. Provide a high level of customer service support for CAEE faculty, students, and staff. Work closely with the department Director to ensure compliance with university policy and financial procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Accounting: Responsible for reviewing account balances, account charges. Reconcile department accounts, prepare discretionary account statements, and compose annual reports for the CAEE department. Maintain/review, balance forward analyses, account corrections, and transfers. Prepare ad hoc financial reports as requested by department chair, department director, and Dean's office. Apply rules, regulations and policies to ensure financial transactions are consistent with university and department policies. Provide backup support by creating electronic documents.

  • Compliance: Interpret and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures, and state and federal laws and regulations. Assist with documenting and monitoring internal controls. Track Requirement of department endowments to ensure compliance with endowment charters. Track endowment balances and income.

  • Financial Planning: Assist the Department Director with preparation of annual budgets. Provide monthly and quarterly reports to faculty. Preparation of monthly reconciliation report; preparation of monthly account balance report. Prepare faculty allocation expenditure reports and other reports for department chair, department director, and Dean's office as requested.

  • Department Support: Collaborate as an integral member of the CAEE team, work in partnership on initiatives and goals in the areas of deposits, payments, procurement, and contracts. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.

  • Five years of experience in finance or accounting with experience in purchasing, planning, and financial analysis.

  • Demonstrated analytical skills, problem resolution experience with complex systems, flexibility, and researching financial inquiries.

  • Excellent written and oral communication.

  • A professional and friendly demeanor with staff, faculty and students.

  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. Highly detail-oriented, with accuracy in all phases of work.

  • Ability to be discreet with confidential matters and to use sound judgment to facilitate independent decisions.

  • Knowledgeable of the University's procurement, payment, vouchering, and audit processes, as well as University resources, policies, business systems.

  • Experience in budgeting, accounting and reporting. Advance experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Experience working with DEFINE, and other UT systems.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in Accounting or Finance or CPA. Experience with Workday.

  • Experience working with DEFINE, UT Direct/FRMS, BUD, VIP Direct, and other UT systems Experience with financial audits.

  • Working knowledge of UT accounting and procurement policies and procedures.

  • Experience working in university environment. Experience working with databases.

  • Ability to work under pressure, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Salary Range

$60,000 + depending on qualifications
