The Center for Career and Professional Development at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Daytona Beach Campus is currently accepting applications for a Career Development Advisor. Career Development Advisors work with students in specific degree programs to prepare them for career opportunities, while also connecting with companies to recruit those students.

As part of the Center for Career and Professional Development team, the Career Development Advisors will:

  • Provide personalized and group advising on career preparation skills including resume and cover letter writing, interview techniques, networking strategies, and portfolio development.
  • Guide students in the search for internships, full-time positions, and assist with salary negotiation and career advancement.
  • Develop presentations, workshops, seminars, and information sessions tailored to the career development needs of students assigned to advise.
  • Promote career events and opportunities through various communication channels including email, social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter), and faculty/staff networks, and career management system.
  • Cultivate relationships with employers, alumni, and industry professionals to expand internship and job opportunities for students.
  • Organize networking events, employer panels, and work with department to host networking events.
  • Collaborate with the team to plan and execute major Industry/Career Expos and other relevant events each academic year.
  • Maintain accurate records of advising sessions, workshops, and student outcomes using the center's database systems.
  • Represent the university at regional and national conferences, workshops, and professional associations focused on student career development.
  • Lead events, manage company visits, and organize elements to make events successful.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Typical Hours are Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, with some evening hours and occasional weekend hours periodically due to presentations and events.
  • Travel is not mandatory, but professional development opportunities are available that requires travel, as are occasional events including company site visits.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor'sdegree and three - five years of related experience in student support, higher education, counseling or advising.

  • Proven experience in career advising, coaching, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of career development strategies, job search techniques, and employment trends.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with students, faculty, and employers.
  • Proficiency in using career-related technologies.
  • Strong organizational and event management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Preferred Master's degree in higher education, leadership, student personnel, or related field.
* Knowledge of/or experience in aviation and aerospace-related fields.
